I think what the SCOTUS should have decided before this case is that there are only two sexes/genders. That would have made this case much easier and less pathetic. I can't believe that some of the justices were actually entertaining arguments of discrimination against NOT letting these mentally ill men play in women’s sports. As if to say that if they were a different (third) sex that it might be construed as discrimination?

I could not even believe that word (discrimination) even entered the Courtroom.

Why are we wasting time on this non-sense? Oh wait I remember, no common sense.

Agree. Polls show a strong majority oppose transgenders in women’s sports. I don’t think Dem leaders strongly support it, but they don’t speak against it — and that silence ties them to the issue.

Imo it’s a bigger concern at the high school level. In some states all a boy has to do is declare he’s a girl and he compete in girls sports. We rarely hear from the girls who lose spots and medals as a result. They’re the ones who lose opportunities - what do they say?

On literally the first day of his administration, Biden signed an executive order that protected transgender‘s in sports and restrooms among other things. It was a well meaning bill that was much broader than those two issues, but again totally tone deaf to where society was on the overall issue. And I would argue it had an impact on the 2024 election. Not just on that issue, but also on others, conservatives were able to paint liberals as completely out of touch with where society was.

good point. Dems need to move away from those positions/far left to be more affective in elections. Similar to Biden’s refusal to act on the border - until it was too late.

I agree. But the Problem for Democrats is the way their coalition is structured some of the social issues have to be there in order for them to get their vote out so they’re in a tough position. They have tried to move more towards a affordability, which I think is the right path, but the question remains on whether the social activist wing or young people just stay home if that’s the overriding issue of the election. And I don’t think anybody knows the answer right now.
The reason Obama was able to win convincingly twice is because he could speak to all the economic and other issues effectively and didn’t have to speak about race or civil rights or any of those issues because it was implied in his candidacy. So he had a huge advantage. I don’t know how the Democrats get that back. But I hope they do, because one party rule with what the current party is doing is as destructive as anything that’s happened in my lifetime.

The Supreme Court is absolutely going to uphold these common-sense laws. 77% of the country supports boys playing sports with boys and girls with girls. I get most of my news from the WSJ, but try to read some left-leaning sources to draw a non-partisan view.

The left-leaning media looks like fools here. They brought out two boys who identify as girls who were literally crying, they couldn't play the sport they love (track and field). That is not what the law says. They just have to play with the boys, even if they are running a hundred-meter relay in makeup with long hair.

Biden acted on the border. He made it easier to process illegals so they could come in and stay by registering for government assistance.

So none of the lefties want to defend their own here? I take that as an agreement that these trans people are in fact dealing with mental disorders, and the people who are propagating this are in fact child molesters, and should have charges brought against them. Where is CPS in all this?

I listened to quite a bit of the oral arguments. Other than a mootness issue in one of the two cases, it seemed to be a lot of wonky discussion about the appropriate level of scrutiny (rational basis versus intermediate) and whether exceptions can exist where the challenges are "as applied" versus facial.

But in the general elections how many votes are lost among independents in the primaries with the left wing candidates? Outside a Trump-esque candidate I would most likely vote against them.

Harris wasn’t a good test as she was a awful candidate. In the 2020 primaries, she spent most of the race in single digits, and dropped out early. As VP, she was one of the least popular in modern times. The only reason she was the candidate is because Biden put her there. As a nominee, her main attribute was simply that she wasn’t Trump - which wasn’t enough.

That said, to your point, Democrats on the left/younger do get motivated by further-left candidates. See the NYC mayoral race with Mamdani. Is there a young Bernie type?

I’m always hoping for the moderates on both sides. Or at least not the worst from each side.

Can't even get a single lefty over here to debate something they adamantly believe in because they know they are insane. I actually feel bad for them because they cannot conform to society and we have a serious mental health problem in the USA that needs attending to. We have to open up the mental health facilities to get these folks off the streets and get them medical care.

Well they are going to lie as best they can. They are going to say they are for certain things that everyone knows they are against, and say they are against certain things everyone knows they are for. And somehow there are some folks sitting in the middle of all of this that will vote for these theives who are robbing from the goverenment as fast as they can.

But this thread is not about getting re-elected, it is about the cases in front of the Supreme Court that seek to level the playing field for women. Obviously you don't have an opinion on the subject since all you want to do is lament the Republicans being in office.

I actually did, it’s in post 5, where I largely agree with conservatives on this, and have consistently for years.
Of course the same could be said about you, turning it into a thread about child molestors and other bizarre rants. But to each their own.

You didn't say you agreed with conservatives, you said the liberals have a losing argument. Not the same thing. And I think that parents who have their children surgically altered along with doctors that participate are child molesters. The only thing bizarre about it is all the people who are trying to normalize it.

That medical quack should lose her license to practice medicine.
