Our old friend Bullis says in his opinion, Lewis makes his decision for the Gators sometime this week. So, hopefully our wait is soon to be over for his decision.

Would've been cooler had he gone with a movie reference of some kind.

Do you think the Payne commit helps Scottie to UF? Two top 30 recruits on board. Could be best ranked basketball recruiting class to ever attend UF, if Scottie commits

Yes its all lined up. Now its about however Scottie wants to do the big announcement. I'm sure Senior Klatsky is also paying for that.

although I'd love for him to be a Gator, his decision should not be based on Klatsky family relationship

I think we’ve actually had a top ranked class before

    2008 I think
Calathes , Parsons , Lucas, Kadji, Vargas

    Best recollection....

Calathes had a great 2 years (individual, not as team) and went' pro. I would have liked to see him stay another year, but it is what it is.

Calathes, Parsons, and Lucas were actually 2007 class. Kadji and Vargas were 2008 class. Although ranking wise, both 2007 and 2008 were very high, I think both were considered "top 5" recruiting classes pretty much everywhere.

    2007 class was:
Jai Lucas (PG) - transferred when he couldn't beat Calathes
Nick Calathes (PG) - nice individual 2 years, but went pro.
Adam Allen (SG) - bad knees, never played
Chandler Parsons (SF) - got better every year, SEC POY as senior
Alex Tyus (PF) - great 4 year career

2007 class was actually pretty darn good in retrospect, living up to it's billing. Guys coming along at different rates. Calathes lived up to 5* billing, Lucas... not so much. He would have been fine contributor if he stayed, but probably thought he "deserved" big minutes due to 5* rating and family bloodlines. We got one of our greats out of this class (Parsons), a guy who contributed for 4 years in Tyus, and an "instant impact" PG in Calathes - was a shame he went pro so soon, but that just opened the door for Erving Walker who walked right through it and ended up being one of our all time leaders.

    2008 class was:
Erving Walker (PG) - all time great Gator
    Ray Shipman (SG)- nothing(?)
Allan Chaney (SF) - health/heart issue, away from game, transfer to mid major, career ended again due to heart issue.
Kenny Kadji (PF) - transferred, eventually 1 or 2 good years for Miami
Eloy Vargas (PF) - overrated in rankings, I think went to UK and did nothing?

2008 class was an epic bust based on individual rankings, but i think it was mostly that Kadji and Vargas were rediculously overrated by some of the recruiting sites. Both were 5*?...umm....no way LOL.

As far as "best Gator class", "on paper" it would probably have to be one of Donovan's early classes.

    1998 class was:
    Mike Miller (#13)
    Teddy Dupay (#20)
    Ladarius Halton (#53)
    Udonis Haslem (#72)

    1999 class was:
    Donnell Harvey (#1)
    Breet Nelson (#7)
    Matt Bonner (#38)

Of course we know our best class was 2004 (two Natty's)
    Corey Brewer (#25)
    Al Horford (#47)
    Joakim Noah (#72)
Taurean Green (just outside to 100 on most services, thus "unranked" on this index)

Didn't Bullis say White would not be able to recruit when he came here because he wasn't in bed with the AAU handlers like FSU was?

I think I remember that, but I also think I remember him saying that White would be a good recruiter based on how much kids liked him?

Florida's 2001 class was ranked as the best ever on paper: three McDonald All-Americans (#1 Kwame Brown, #5 James White, and #7 David Lee). Lee won the Dunk contest narrowly over White (I still have it recorded somewhere of that Micky D game where all three played together). What would have been. Brown never attended UF and became the #1 pick for Michael Jordan's Charlotte Bobcats.

Three Micky D's in one class at UF may never be equaled or surpassed. Now, schools like Kentucky & Duke routinely sign these one-and-done classes.

On the court, Florida's 2004 class (ranked 12) was the best ever for the Gators. These players stayed long enough at Florida (until their junior years) to have a lasting impact on the program.
