Yes it seems to have increased. I use “silence unknown callers” on iPhone that sends them to voicemail. I try to add anybody legit to contacts as they come in.

Luckily texts have not been bad for me. But my mom’s was full of spam/scams. I added an app called “Junkman” and it had been near 100% perfect at filtering out junk texts.

I'm pretty sure my amount of text and call spam went up 10 fold by using Whats App for various group texts

There is the Do Not Call list. You'd have to answer and tell them your number is on the list and not to call back. They can get a hefty fine and you get part of the money if they call back.
