From Russia with love. Good news for Trump, while of course he denies Russia is helping him too.

I think the evangelicals are right. God has so blessed us with Trump. So I'm sure that God like the Russians is helping Bernie too. Who would ever have thought that God and Russia would be on the same side?

Putin definitely likes to support the most polarizing party candidate

Putin cut his teeth being a KGB operative in East Germany. He despises the US with every fiber in his body. He is also resentful about the breakup of the USSR and that sense that mother Russia was humiliated in the process. He would love nothing more than to weaken, divide, or even destroy the US and will do whatever he can to facilitate all of that.

Putin wants Trump. He perceives Sanders as easy to beat by branding Sanders as a socialist. We will see what happens Super Tuesday when people vote as opposed to having to sit in a room all day or for hours and publicly identify their candidate.

So, many of the people supporting Sanders have been duped by the Russians? If the Russians weren’t interfering, one of Biden teal would be winning these primaries, caucuses?

Said it another thread, for the Russians, a Sanders-Trump election would be a "heads I win, tails use lose" situation. I think Trump is still Putin's first choice because he is easy to manipulate but a Sanders victory wouldn't be a loss for the Russians either because he would end up implementing policies favorable to Russia. The Russians are also smart enough to realize that as a general election candidate Bernie Sanders would be Trump's weakest opponent. The difference between Trump and Bernie is that Trump denies receiving assistance from the Russians while welcoming the assistance. Sanders acknowledges and rejects the assistance from Russia.
Bernie Sanders condemns Russian influence in election

I really don't see why the Russians think they need to help Bernie. According to James Carville, people who think Bernie can beat Trump in an election are stupid.

James Carville Compares Bernie Supporters to Climate Deniers

He may be right, but what it tells me, if Trump gets reelected, is that this country is stupid.

Maybe Vladimir isn't backing Old Joe because Biden cannot be easily manipulated like Trump and won't support a foreign policy beneficial to Russia like Bernie Sanders. Also, Biden as the Democratic nominee would represent a much serious threat to Trump's reelection than the Bern. The ideal situation for Vladimir Putin would be a Democratic nominee who has a relatively small chance of beating his chosen one in November.

Putin’s Russia is much more aligned with Trump’s vision than with anyone of the Left. I don’t doubt they would favor Bernie in the Democratic primary, both to give Trump an easier opponent, and just to stir things up generally, given how much Bernie’s people want to destroy the Democratic Party, which, surprisingly, is now the party tougher on Russia.

But while Russia is and was a totalitarian country, they no longer appeal to the world in the same way they did as the Soviet union. Then they tried to sell the Socialist workers Utopia. That’s the appeal that sold the very naïve and stupid young Bernie. It was ridiculous to fall for it when he did.

But Putin’s Russia does not sell that. They sell oligarchy, homophobia (a former KGB agent that hated religion now embraces Russian orthodoxy to supposedly stand against the loose standards of the West accepting gays as normal people), and, most importantly for these purposes, standing against the brown hordes from the global south.

In this regard, they are ideologically aligned with Trump’s vision of the world, primarily built on racial identity and repudiating any universal human values in favor of authoritarianism and a rigid social hierarchy of privilege and domination

I’ve noticed that Warren has taken a hard pivot to attack Bloomberg rather than Bernie, which is odd since Bernie is crushing her. My only take away is that she is starting her push to be his running mate.

Also worth noting that the Russians intertwining with American politics go far deeper than Trump, and are predominately through the Republican Party. As just two of the notable examples, don’t forget that seven Republican senators were in Moscow for the Fourth of July a couple of years ago, Not disclosing what they talked about, and that the NRA was almost completely penetrated and predominately funded by Russian money.

The ties go deep. Don’t forget that Kevin McCarthy, current House Minority leader, was caught on tape talking to Paul Ryan saying that he believes Putin pays Trump and Dana Rohrabacher, the Republican House member, no longer in the house, that took the pardon offer to Julian Assange. That was McCarthy caught on tape before Trump became the Republican standard bearer. It’s not like people like him are not aware of what’s actually going on. They just cannot admit it now

The Russia thing is hilarious, because 99.9% of the U.S. population could not possibly care less about who Putin wants to win the WH. It’s only a select few lefties who have been led to believe that somehow the Russians, who can barely get out of their own way, can somehow pick our president. The campaigns will spend hundreds of millions on ads, etc but yeah, it’s those clever FB ads Putin paid for that put voters in a trance where they do his bidding. I can’t blame him for trying; some people will believe anything.

I was born and raised in the segregated South. Now in my sunset years I'm living during the fall of the republic. In between the two this country had a pretty good stretch. But I should have known that it wouldn't last. The thing is, this country is in worse hands today than I ever could have imagined. And it will only get worse.

This is going to be the gift that keeps on giving until November. Now that Sanders is clearly going to win the Dem nomination, we'll get constant gems like this claiming today's America is a downgrade compared to segregation times.
