Greg Knox takes his knocks so I thought I would take a gander at a few top SEC Running Back rooms in comparison to UF. Now this is not a defense or a shot at Knox but rather just an objective attempt to see how UF stacks up at the RB position. One interesting bit of info is in regards to the champs lsu. For all his recruiting prowess, Coach O is in a precarious position of only 3 RB on scholarship, none of whom have played much.

I also noted that the big boys don't seem to have any trouble getting highly ranked backs to sign and sit behind the guy in front of them. Trey Sanders is listed at 4 or 5 on the Bama depth chart and who knows where he would slot if not injured last year. UGA insiders seem to think Milton will contend for the starting spot by years end. Of this list I would rate UF 3rd behind Bama and uga but thats if LL gets his waiver. If not I would put UF behind Auburn also.

UGA: Zamir White, James Cook, Kenny McIntosh, Kendall Milton

UF: Dameon Pierce, Malik Davis, Iverson Clement, Nay’Quan Wright, Lorenzo Lingard.

Bama: Najee Harris, Brian Robinson, Jerome Ford, Chadarius Townsend, Trey Sanders

LSU: Tyrion Davis-Price, John Emery, Chris Curry

Auburn: JaTarvious Whitlow, D.J. Williams, Shaun Shivers, Harold Joiner, Malik Miller

Yes, Whitlow surprisingly entered the transfer portal back in February as a non-grad transfer. I haven’t heard if he’s yet landed anywhere.

Auburn also has 5* rb Tank Bigsby as an incoming freshman.

Perhaps the site I got the info from are a bit outdated. I had forgotten Whitlow had entered the portal. Bigsby could get a lot of snaps for them.

He is listed on roster at RB, I don't know why he is not on the depth chart I looked at. I forgot he was there.

UM signed two 4 star RBs and FSU signed one 4 star RB from the State. Of the 4 star RBs in the State last year, UF signed none. Lingard fortunately dropped in their lap, but has a history of injuries, as does Davis. Pierce left two games last year with concussion symptoms. That does not go away. Wright had injury issues in HS. I’m worried about our RB depth. The only RB on the UF roster that Knox recruited was Wright. Pierce and Clement were the previous RB coach. Davis was already here as well. Lingard was a transfer after injury and lack of playing time. UF RBs not of same caliber as those other teams signed.

It's why it is imperative UF signs a good back this cycle. Not sure who that will be.

while it may not Impact your ranking of back fields, 247 came out with transfer rankings and re-ranked Lingard as a 3 star down from a 5 star. Ridiculous to me and don’t agree with their reasoning but thought I’d mention it. Same with Shorter. Dropped him to a 3 star. Newman transfer to Georgia became a 10 star.

Maybe Trey Sanders will transfer here since he’s about 5th in line at Bama.

Even if we got Sanders next year, my question is who is our next every down back who moves the pile. We have homerun hitters in Davis and Lingard and our other two guys we want out in space. I think Sanders could fit both of those categories, but I don't see that next move-the-sticks guy that Mullen had at MSU.
