In Michigan's 2 meets so far they had 5x AA (All Around) gymnasts and a total of 7 gymnasts in each meet. I'm not sure if they are dealing with injuries, COVID or a small team? NCAA Gymnastics is a long arduous season, a "marathon not a sprint" with the goal to peak in post-season. There is no way Michigan will be able to maintain hitting and improving on these scores using the same 5 gymnasts in all 4 rotations without suffering some level of fatigue or injuries, etc. IMHO.
Winning the SEC Championship in Gymnastics is crazy hard Last year final ranking pre tournament was 1 Oklahoma 197.944 197.288 1 Florida 197.944 197.594 3 LSU 197.813 197.378 4 Michigan 197.800 197.197 5 California 197.613 197.081 6 Utah 197.556 197.263 7 Alabama 197.538 197.053 8 Minnesota 197.431 196.905 9 Denver 197.344 196.835 10 Arkansas 197.225 196.794
Not in a bad position. Hopefully the lineup will settle and the routines will get refined as needed. It has felt like we peaked a little early the last couple of years (injuries can certainly have something to do with that). With our depth, I'm hoping for a more rested (and hopefully more healthy) team going down the stretch this year.
