Richardson to play (or start) next week???

The cold hard reality is one of them won’t be on the team in 2022

Scenarios:

1. EJ starts and balls out, goes pro, AR is 2022 starter and goes pro after 2022

2. EJ and AR split reps in 2022, EJ can’t go pro. Either EJ or AR will transfer. My guess is AR. Both will want full reps in 2023 because they want to go pro. So one will transfer. AR is the hotter commodity so he will have his pick to transfer

3. AR starts, EJ transfers next year

There is no:

EJ and AR split reps in 2022 AND 2023 scenario. Just not possible. And there is no split rep scenario and one of them sits the bench in 2023.

 

Why should we use both? Play the best one. If we are up a billion, then play the backup. If one QB is better than the other then, by definition, any time the lesser QB plays the team is worse off.

 

Passing....rushing....and getting TDs.

They both did that yesterday.

Play who gives us the best chance to win.. It's that simple. Mullen knows which one it is.... Him acting upon it is a different story.

I wish it turns out that way. We know that runners take a beating. Who do we have after EJ and AR? Need them both for sure.

 

Injuries aside, #3 looks like the most likely scenario, imho. Only a fool would let AR get away, just don’t believe Dan is Kirby.

And I guess that’s why Saban and Dabo have won an NC, and Mullen hasn’t. The ability to change personnel and make hard choices.

I never said anything about who should start. Just at this point - we need both to play. I also think that's what's best for the team.

But I'm OK if someone else has a different take.

It's America after all.

I get it - everyone is wound up right now after watching us tank the end of last season.

But arguing back and forth on a message board isn't going to change anything. So I've said my peace and we'll see what happens, as always. It's really and truly out of our hands anyway.

To condense what I said, I would liken this to a military unit. Which leader would you rather serve under in the military? A quiet leader who isn’t gung-ho, but knows his stuff, makes good decisions quickly under fire, and gets you home alive? Or a gung-ho “alpha” leader who has problems making good decisions quickly under fire, and can get you killed? In a perfect world, your leader would have both qualities, but which one is most important?
