After supporting trillions of dollars in new federal spending under President Donald Trump, Republicans in Congress are now worried about the national debt.
Coincidentally, a Democrat is about to occupy the White House.
Republicans supported trillions in pandemic relief spending last year, but at a confirmation hearing for Biden’s Treasury Secretary nominee Janet Yellen, Republicans prodded the former chair of the Federal Reserve about how much spending is too much.
Even before the pandemic, with control of the White House and both chambers of Congress, and no recession or national emergency, Republicans abandoned their prior calls for fiscal discipline and added nearly $4 trillion to the national debt through tax cuts and new spending

The Covid spending is a Trojan Horse for the “entitlement reforms”.

as 9/11 was a Trojan horse for greater government interference in citizens lives. I prefer this one over that one.

Biden’s new bill more than doubles the one many republicans were against a month ago. And y’all are shocked they are more against it? In fact, many were against the one in March when Trump was still president. Many Americans and even many in Congress have always cared about wasteful spending and the deficit.

And Ray Charles, but they're just a couple of piano players.

    Lloyd and Harry concur.

I’ll readily admit I’m more against wasteful spending than tax cuts. The gov should do better with our money.

Yes, they should but you are okay with blowing up the deficit as long as it benefits you personally. At least you’re honest about it.

It’s true, though. IF you really wanted to bring down the deficit you would be against tax cuts AND wasteful spending. Cutting taxes during a good economy was insanity and you know that but you’re happy personally with your own taxes being cut.

You know that this is even remotely close to being the point. It's the predictable reemergence of Republican's blatantly disingenuous concern about the deficit, reappearing every four to eight years when a Dem is in the WH.
