Would seem silly to put either in the East, but silly would appear to be the order of the day.

I’m all for this but I Think the extra game could be an issue with 12 team playoff. I get it’s unlikely but there’s already worry of a team potentially playing 17 games and this would bring 18 into play.

of course this probably shakes everything up and changes the playoff calculus completely

Was thinking the same. I guess the pac picks up the bigger scraps from
the big 12 and solidifies itself as a decent 4th best conference?

Whoever we beat in the seccg game (see what I did there ;) )would likely make the playoff but wouldnt get the first round bye and could potentially play 4 playoff games if they made it that far. It’s incredibly unlikely and would only be one team. I’m not opposed to it just saying it will get brought up
    as a negative

I assume we’d go to 9 conference and 3 non conference games in your scenario, no point in having that many teams without adding an extra game

I see. I didn't realize there were 12 teams in the new expanded playoff. I was basing the hypothetical schedule off an 8 team playoff expansion.

Yeah I just fixed it. I looked at this years schedule and saw 4 non-conference games, but if we played 9 SEC games, then we'd probably drop one of the non-conference games.

Thx for clarifying. I didn't want to assume what you meant. Those 2 coming to the SEC makes it the power 1. SEC is already the best conference for the past decade. Adding 2 perinnial top 10 teams like Texas & Oklahoma means there is only one conference.

Alabama already reserved that. We get Uga, Oky and the 84 Bears.

You mean a power 1 and the rest of the children conferences? The SEC is already by far the strongest conference and you add those two programs who are historically always going to recruit top 15 if not better classes and it’s just insane. You could have literally taken Texas and Oklahoma and added them to any other conference and that conference would still be inferior to the SEC. Put them in the SEC and the gap becomes insurmountable. We would literally be the best conference even if you put together the 16 best teams from all of the remaining conferences.

Texas A&M won't be able to block Texas alone. It will take 75% of the current 14 programs to vote yes, 10.50 rounded up to 11 yes votes needed. Vanderbilt may not want expansion and could join with Texas A&M in voting no. I don't know why anyone else wouldn't vote yes so likely a 12-2 yes vote which is a +1 approval margin.

OU brings zero dollars to the SEC with no TV market to speak of in OK, and Texas is already covered by aTm. Unless the SEC thinks they can absorb USC, Oregon, OSU and Notre Dame to be the only conference, there is not a monetary value to the exchange. Kick rocks. You are too late to the party.

They would both go in the East. Bama would only play them every 8-10 years. UK would move to the West because Bear coached there. Just don’t see Bama giving up a conference run just for them. Or Texas either.

If this were to happen...and if we stuck with 2 divisions and not go to a 4 team rotating "pod" system... Then I'd bet Mizzou would move to the West and Auburn and bama would move to the East. As an Auburn fan who grew up watching us play Tennessee and Florida every year in the 80s/90s...I'd be all for it as we play yall about once every 10 years it feels like. Same with the Vols.

Bring them on....no one in the SEC is shaking in their boots at the thought of the Sooners or Horns coming in. We've already got 5-6 programs in any given season that have the resources and "dudes" those teams have, if not more. Would be fun to go to some new away stadiums for games.

On the one hand I like the concept of those two programs in the SEC-a lot.

On the other hand playing Bama, Auburn and GA every year would be brutal, and then hope and pray TN and FSU continue to suck for all eternity.

If you had an SEC playoff, and an NCAA playoff, then the tougher schedule is less of a show stopper.
