IF we add Oklahoma and Texas
    SEC realignment is a certainty.
    SEC West
    Oklahoma-Texas-Texas A&M-Missouri-Arkansas-LSU-Ole Miss-Miss State
    SEC East
    Florida-Georgia-South Carolina-Tennessee-Vanderbilt-Kentucky-Auburn-Alabama.
Then we need to dump Florida vs LSU every year for a rotation of SEC West teams.
    It's a new day folks.

Yeah, Athens and Auburn are about 5 hours from Gainesville. I was definitely off by 2-3 hours

    You sure about that ?
Seems to me the SECCG winner is going to be the number one team in the country most years.
And the loser is still going to the playoffs.

Why even add Bama to the east, when all we have to do is add Auburn to the east and make Texas and Oklahoma west teams? Missouri can stay in the east, IMHO... It's the best situation for the Gators... :D;);)

But it doesn't make sense for the SEC as a whole.
Geography counts .. now more than ever.

Yeah, but the focus is the playoff for both in your comment. How the SECCG can serve that purpose. Kind of like it's nice to win your division in the NFL, but no one really cares once they are in the playoff.

The real ugly byproduct will be if (when) one or two non SECCG teams make the playoff by jumping the loser of the game who doesn't get a spot.

I like playing Tennessee every year and am fine with playing LSU every year. But neither were annual opponents before the 12 team expansion in 1992. I would absolutely welcome a situation that resulted in mixing up our schedule with some more in conference variety.

That's going to be a lot harder if/when most of the schedule is SEC teams.

Not sure why. I'd expect at least 3 teams 10-2 or better going into the SECCG most years. We had four at two losses this past season with only SEC teams on the schedule.

We have long history playing three ACC teams (FSU, UM and GT) as we do with many SEC teams. It wouldnt be a bad geographic fit and a whole lot easier for students to travel to away games. Who's up for three or four road trips one year to Texas, TAM, LSU, OU, ARK or MU. I cant see many students making those trips.

Why would Mizzou oppose it? They get back one of their biggest rivalry game with OU and a bigger payday.

But 16 SEC teams, and expanded playoff system, and you might expect 3 or 4 SEC teams in the playoff (hell, you could just about make the argument for 3 even in the 4 team system).

So to not play the SEC championship would almost be a bye week to get ready for the playoffs.

Both teams could let their cheerleaders play the game and still make the playoffs . Hopefully there’s some pride involved. Sec tournament for basketball doesn’t mean much

I understand your point of view, but why have an SEC west made up of almost all Big12 teams? I want more integration that that... And Bama can keep the peace in the west. It's the simplest thing to do is to keep our East in tact and add Auburn to it... If we get Auburn then we play/add a natural rival and up the east division of our conference. That is the least amount of disruption, and we get to keep college football traditional football rivals.

I'd also like to see us keep LSU as a permanent cross division game. That makes 8 SEC games, and if we add 2 rotating teams from the west that gives us 3 annual games from teams in the west division.

Or we can add 3 rotating games and play 4 SEC West teams a year... 7 from the east and 4 from the west, but I'd also like to play a 13 games season with 3 byes...

Negotiable is have 2 or 3 rotating cross divisional teams with LSU as a permanent rival game. That's 10 or 11 SEC only games...

But the best is having Auburn in the east with a 13 game season and 4 total cross division games, one of them is our LSU game with 3 rotating games, annually. And a 3 weeks per season bye.

I don't think we need to totally screw up our traditional rivalries with the pod system. So, unless we add 4 more teams and have 20 team conference then NO to the pods..

We could also add Virginia and Virginia tech, and UNC plus NCST for a 20 team super conference... Lol... Nah...
