I am saying that the right QB makes job of the OL much easier. Hit those deep passes, and it makes it harder for the defense to stack the box like Miami did, which in turn makes it easier on the OL. Stepping up in the pocket against a speed rush instead remaining a sitting duck helps the OT. Mertz’s play against Miami did the OL no favors.

I am not saying we will have the best OL ever, but a functional OL will at least give us a shot a winning.

I don't see the dog that fights to get that yard, especially on the right side, or to hold that extra second.

DJ would be expected to have a good game against a Samford level team. But when you analize his performance, you can see that he greatly exceeded expectations. The td pass to Mizell was the icing on the cake. He had been dropping pass after pass to wide open receivers all game. But the Mizell pass was a GEM! Fade outwards just a bit and it’s out of bounds. Wide inward just a bit and it’s either deflected or intercepted. This was an incredible pass thrown on a rope with perfect velocity and arc. DJ is the future for sure. That future has begun and simply needs to proceed forward now.

Maybe so, but Mertz had time to make those throws in the first half of the Miami game and missed them. You have to throw the receiver open, and Mertz doesn’t do as good of a job of that as Lagway does. After watching the film breakdown, those plays were open in the first half of the Miami game and Mertz couldn’t make the throws, and you can’t blame that on pressure.

Lagway had opportunities to make plays and he made them. Do you reward play on the field, or does Napier stick to the process that has gotten us to this point?

I think Mertz was bad, but to award starting on throwing on air is not a good idea. I actually would prefer to just go with Lagway from here on out as I expect more disjointed OL play from the coaching staff. Mertz is going to really get hurt in a way Lagway can avoid. The process is wrong, and changes are necessary.

That was fun!!! Been a while since we won one.
    Lagway needs to start.

Austin Barber need 55 snaps not 24. Last two weeks he’s played 40-50%.

Kelby Collins- 14 snaps in 2 games. Needs 20-25 a game. Not sure what has happened here.

Not sure I understand Waites getting 28. Snaps. RT snaps need to go to Manuel, BCD, and C. Jones. Right now Waites is not a tackle.

Boreau may be the gem of the class. Very happy to see 18 snaps yesterday. Gets better push than anyone on the team. I’d say he needs 25 snaps.

Jacobi Jackson- glad to see some carries. More wiggle than anyone at RB.

Marshall- right now playing good football.

George Gumbs- what a find. Maybe our best d player through 2 games. Let’s hope he shows up big next week.

In fact, a statue playing QB behind this line may as well go ahead and reserve his spot at the aid station. And FTR, anyone who has forgotten what mobile QBs have done to UF in recent years may want to put the pipe down for a minute. Just saying. :p

You honestly believe that we've had a dozen FR QBs at UF who could have equaled or exceeded DJ's performance in their first start behind this O line? Really? Seriously? SMH.

I hate to say this. And I’ve stopped myself from typing it before. But I just believe Waites is Napier Louisiana boy that he brought and he’s going to play. And others disagree with this even more. But Johnson Is not our Back. Jackson and Baugh are better in my opinion

You’re correct about everything you said. Waites should be 2nd or maybe 3rd team RT. Love Montrell but not our best back.

I’m just gonna say bc we don’t have a president right now, he’s here through the beginning of the 2025 season even if he has another losing season this year. Then they can say they have him something closer to what he said he’d need. Stricklin will get canned we get another AD and if Billy continues to lose, won’t make to the end of the season. Maybe they tell him this season to hire new coordinators. The only reason I’m ok with this scenario is I don’t want SS to sniff another hiring process. Billy needs and deserves every bit of heat he gets if he doesn’t smarten up and be the coach he says he is.

Am I wrong or do we actually have to play 3 Bulldogs this year. Have some creativity in your mascots.

I can’t predict a games outcome but my eyes tell me the O and D lines need to get better! The special teams have been the bright spot in the last two games. We still need to clean up personal foul penalties. I have no idea how we play against tA&M I can only take one game at a time this year! Go Gators!!

Badger stood out to me, it just seemed like he had a huge catch radius, and we need to get him the ball.
part of the issue is we have lacked that player to game play around that scares the opposition - Badger could be that guy -- But obviously Wilson has to get touches early to get him going -- if i'm the OC i'm watching bama film with DeVonta Smith - the way sark used him was genius.

This is correct. Unfortunately, we can't do it. So we may need a mobile QB. That leads to more chaos in play development, but until we can create and protect a pocket, it's better than chuck and duck.
