Realistically, if you could choose our new DC, who would it be?

Too obvious

 

Until further notice, he is an NFL guy. Not that he would not be successful but is his NFL dream over?

As an aside, many years ago when Zook was looking over his head as HC I thought that Mike Mularkey would have been the perfect person to take his place. He was a creative OC for the Steelers. I figured if his alma mater called he would take it. He became a sort of successful HC afterwards and I do not know whether he ever thought about college ball. And you know what happens when you think an alumnus is going to be the savior like Scott Frost. But we got Meyer instead and the rest is history.

 

Barry Odom was who I wanted last year, I thought Derek Mason would have been a good choice. Dan and Derek had the fight run in his last year, but his kids play hard for him. If they could get along, we could probably get now!

If you're being sarcastic and saying that's all he was capable of....I'll have to respectfully disagree.

 

Not opposed to either Mason or Manuel, but a couple of negatives.

Manuel, has no college experience. Not saying he couldn't recruit but he's never done it.

Mason signed a 2 year deal with Auburn at $1.5 mil/year. I imagine you'd have to tack that on to whatever salary increase he'd need to move but could maybe get around it by adding associate head coach to his title to make it a promotion.

 

My bad. Should have been clearer. Yeah, I was simply saying that Tebow could have been a backup for several years at the very least. Some of the qb’s on NFL rosters have been absolutely trash. He could have at least handled that job.

 

Durkin/Champ

I Would give them as much money as it took as well.

 

I'd settle for DJ Durkin at this point in time... over Grantham.

Please understand the DE is a critical piece here. They must read the down block and shuffle with him with his hands on the off lineman . Ur right we come up field like idiots. It’s like they are trying to showcase to the NFL their pass rush abilities

 

I long for DE's that can compress the pocket and maintain outside leverage instead of flying up field and opening up running and throwing lanes.

 

My old shoes are a better recruiter then TG.

We're not getting Champ... Durkin and Mullen were at least on staff together, not sure if the baggage would be an issue for the admin.
