The Moody Blues were a big part of my late 1960's and early 1970's.
    So many memories.
Pretty girls in hippy clothes, smoke-filled rooms, headbands, long hair, etc.
Things were loose and wild and free.
Didn't have any money but had a lot of fun!

I saw them play in Lakeland in 1981... one of the most professional bands I've ever heard live in concert.

    R.I.P., Ray Thomas.

You have to listen to the complete albums of the Moody Blues to get it.
Those first 7 albums were the soundtrack of my youth.

Nights in White Satin... never reaching the end.
Letter I've written never meaning to send...

    "Beauty I'd always missed
    With these eyes before
    Just what the truth is
    I can't say any more
    'Cause I love you
    Yes I love you
    Oh how I love you
Gazing at people, some hand in hand
Just what I'm going through they can't understand
Some try to tell me, thoughts they cannot defend
Just what you want to be, you will be in the end
    And I love you
    Yes I love you
    Oh how I love you
    Oh how I love you
    Nights in white satin
    Never reaching the end
    Letters I've written
    Never…"

One of the most beautiful songs ever written...

    Breathe deep the gathering gloom
Watch lights fade from every room
Bedsitter people look back and lament
Another day's useless energy is spent
    Impassioned lovers wrestle as one;
Lonely man cries for love and has none
New mother picks up and suckles her son
Senior citizens wish they were young

Cold-hearted orb that rules the night
Removes the colours from our sight
Red is grey is yellow white
But we decide which is right
    And which is an illusion

    Question
    The Moody Blues

Why do we never get an answer
When we're knocking at the door
    With a thousand million questions
About hate and death and war?
'Cause when we stop and look around us
There is nothing that we need
    In a world of persecution
That is burning in its greed

Why do we never get an answer
When we're knocking at the door?
Because the truth is hard to swallow
That's what the war of love is for

It's not the way that you say it
When you do those things to me
It's more the way that you mean it
When you tell me what will be
And when you stop and think about it
    You won't believe it's true
That all the love you've been giving
Has all been meant for you

I'm looking for someone to change my life
I'm looking for a miracle in my life
And if you could see what it's done to me
To lose the love I knew
    Could safely lead me through

Between the silence of the mountains
And the crashing of the sea
There lies a land I once lived in
And she's waiting there for me
But in the grey of the morning
    My mind becomes confused
Between the dead and the sleeping
And the road that I must choose

I'm looking for someone to change my life
I'm looking for a miracle in my life
And if you could see what it's done to me
To lose the love I knew
    Could safely lead me to
The land that I once knew
To learn as we grow old
    The secrets of our soul
It's not the way that you say it when you do those things to me
It's more the way you really mean it when you tell me what will be

Why do we never get an answer
When we're knocking at the door
    With a thousand million questions
About hate and death and war?
When we stop and look around us
There is nothing that we need
    In a world of persecution
That is burning in its greed

Why do we never get an answer
When we're knocking at the door?

Saw The Moodies last night in Clearwater. Excellent show...they did a few assorted hits and then played the entire Days Of Future Passed. Good times!
