This is for any of our resident experts. Do the Gators have any interest Quinton Newsome? He is a junior DB from North Qwinnett GA. He has some decent offers. I went to school with his Mom. He has stated the Gators would be favorites if offered. Several of his DB teammates have big time offers.

I can't tell if you're serious because of the chosen font! Lol jk

Newsome is going to be a very good one. At 6'2" 180 he has great size for a 16-17 year old. He hasn't been ranked yet and hopefully he attends as many camps as he can. It'll help him make a name for himself.

Auburn loves this kid as does ole miss, WVU and ga tech. His grades are in good shape because vandy has offered too. If he's good enough for auburn he's good enough for us depending on depth charts.

Very serious..my phone defaulted to that font. He camped at Vandy. Right now Auburn is the favorite but he wants a Florida offer. My first time knowing someone personally who has a child with the talent and desire to play D1.....so a little excited he wants to be a Gator.

I was kidding about the font. Rarely am I serious about anything on this site!!

That's cool that you have a personal connection. It appears this kids trajectory is headed in the right direction. For all we know, he could outgrow Safety into a LB. He's 16 years old and hes 6'2" 180 already.

His mom is a big Gator fan....we went to school in Hamilton county.....hence the reason he is partial to the Gators.

Has UF contacted him at all yet?

I know we're a little behind the 8 ball right now but once we get caught up on our evaluations I'm sure this kid will catch Charlton warrens eye. (Or whomever is responsible for Hamilton county)

    It's great that he's a gator fan.

I have not heard his name but that means little at this point. this staff has concentrated on 2018 as they should have. we are starting to see some offers in the last week for 19 and even 2020.

I think we've offered 5 -5* for 2019 over the last 2 weeks. The talent is simply ridiculous for next year.

It seems he may be behind Elam, Davis, Kimbrough and possibly a couple others at this point.

    Interesting discussion you've created xhuck.

It's extremely interesting to me that he hasn't received a Gator offer yet, because if 247 is accurate, as of now, the Gators have offered, for 2019 (not all committable I'm sure): 31 CBs, 23 S, and 27 Athletes, most of whom are DB/OLB sized. Florida 2019 Football Offers

Of course, right now, the Gators have 2 Jr, 9 So & 4 FR DBs on the roster (assuming Watkins stays at DB). And most other teams don't have that ridiculous roster depth. I'm expecting by the end of spring that at least 2 or 3 of those 9 Soph DBs will choose to go elsewhere for playing time. Heck, even 6 in one class is utterly ridiculous.

I'm going to take a wild guess: since he's yet to receive a UF offer....we or he are probably not interested. We have plenty of DBs on our radar. I think UF will be fine....and so will he.

I don't know that I would call it ridiculous depth. I think it is just unbalanced and agree some of them will not be here next year, and that will help balance classes. If you compare the numbers to another position group that regularly plays five at a time (OL), it is a good idea to have 16 on the roster. Also, I expect we will have more plays with 6 db types than 6 OL types. I'm more concerned with the the imbalance Mac left us with at db than I am about needing the raw numbers at other positions.

What I'm hearing. UF has been in contact, he may be down the board a bit. I expect him to be at a camp and could earn a offer or improve his standing. This will play out in time. IMO he will make someone a good DB.
