Yeah, you never really know what's gonna happen with kids between the ages of 14 and 20. One friend of mine was 5'4" tall starting PG as a Sophomore, and 2 years later, he was 6'4" and playing at Stetson, eventually getting a pro Tryout offer.

We also know that after 1 year on the Gator Basketball Program S&C work that both Gak & Basset gained about 35-40 lbs of muscle (of course, they are respectively 6'11" & 6'9" tall).

BLUF: Gonna be hard to pull Howell from Clemson!

Story on Clemson QB "battle" this spring:

Basically, they only have 3 scholarship QBs (they had 2 transfer in January).

Kelly will be a senior, so they will only return 2 scholarship QBs in 2019: Hunter Johnson & Trevor Lawrence (the #1 recruit in the 2018 class).

Don't see him being a QB at UF. Maybe another position?

He's not being recruited to switch positions. UF and Ohio State are after him. I think that says he's a good QB. His rating will go up and he likely ends up in the top 250-300 players. He's already rated #10 DT QB.

Well, if we take two it won't be that bad. Not to mention, UF AND OSU are after him so we should broaden our horizons anyway. Yes, I realize it's early.

    This was posted on seccountry:

Gators will host more QBs this month
Finley won’t be the only quarterback to visit Florida in the coming weeks.

Spring practice begins on Friday, and the Gators will host several recruits throughout the month, including 4-star QB Taisun Phommachanh (Bridgeport, Conn.) and 3-star QB David Baldwin (Bradenton, Fla.).

Phommachanh, the nation’s No. 1 dual-threat passer according to 247Sports, is scheduled to visit the Gators on March 20 and Florida State on March 21. Baldwin plans to attend one of Florida’s practices as well.

Another signal caller who will visit this spring is 3-star QB Jalon Jones (Baltimore), who was committed to Mullen when he was at Mississippi State. Ohio State has emerged as Florida’s biggest competition for Jones.

He received an offer from the Buckeyes on March 2 and visited Columbus the following day.

I think you and I are on the same page re: Pho. All nole.

I don't know a whole lot about Baldwin at IMG but i think jalon is our best option. If he continues to improves and becomes a top 5 DT QB he'll be ranked very similarly to Emory. I like his size and I like the fact that Mullen has been on him for 2 years now.

Brian Johnson has been in touch with him and Jalon really enjoys their relationship/rapport/friendship. I think Brian Johnson will be excellent for us.

Note I agree on Jones but lets keep our ears on Baldwin. Some guys at IMG really excel in their progress and Baldwin will get every chance to improve.

Do you happen to know anything about Baldwin? I haven't had a chance to look at him at all.

No I haven't. I tend to stay away from the IMG kids with our lack of success. This early I focus on pipelines and ex Gators that coach somebody. That said Deyavie Hammond OG out of Lakeland at IMG is the guy to watch. If he starts visiting with Baldwin then the interest might get real. We know DH already likes the Gators and the Pounceys. Now let's see if he wants to bring Baldwin with him.

    I have a legit question:

Do you go after the best overall QB? (Drew Brees/Tom Brady)

Or do you go after the best player for your system? (Dak Prescott)

Or do you go after a certain body type? (Cam Newton)

And who would that be in 2019 or 2020?

Agree. He doesn't look like a QB who will lead the Gators to a championship.

Jalon Jones is supposed to make a decision soon....he hasn't visited UF yet. He's visited Ohio State and Virginia, and has return visits scheduled to both schools. Mullen is pushing for a visit.

2020 is Harrison Bailey. Long time UF lean. #2 overall QB

2019 Jalon Jones or David Baldwin from IMG.

Story from the front page here, new QB being recruited (USCe seems to lead for now):

Garrett Shrader (6-4, 200, Charlotte, NC. Christian)

What about Quarterback Taisun Phommachanh (6-4, 205, Bridgeport, CT. Avon Old Farms)?

He's high on FSU and a few other programs. I think we get Jalon Jones, but if he picks OSU I'm not sure who's next on our board. Probably the IMG kid.
