While I'm not saying the QB room is awesome, it does have more upside IMO. I also believe that if any starting QB is struggling, CBN will have no problem pulling him next year. I would also guess, that after spring practice one of these guys will leave.

Which either leaves a pwo as the 4 or we have room for one more. If Miller and Brown were to leave because they are 3 and 4, that would be a problem.

his best offer outside of Uf was central Michigan (old coach Mac). I imagine he knew coming to Uf he would need several years to develop in order to play at SEC level. He could have gone to Central Michigan right away if all he cared about was the fastest possible path to playing time.

He actually received an offer from Washington prior to being offered by UF - according to 247. The kid is not trash, just look at his film.

Brown is new to football and a very good baseball player and athlete as well. The redshirt year was needed, but he could surprise after a few years in the system.

Miller will either be QB 1 or 3, imho. Can’t see him burning another year here if he’s a 3. Will Billy slow play it and leave all the QB’s in a jumbled heap exiting the spring game to try and get Mertz-Miller-Rashada all to fall camp?

And Brown may be better than Mertz or Miller longterm but may leave also . Another top qb coming so he may see the writing on the wall. I’d want to see the field 2-3 years if I’m Brown.

Teams will stack the line to stop our running game which is the strength of the O. A turnstile OL will make quarterbacking a major challenge. I suspect teams will look at our bowl loss with enthusiasm. If we cannot pass well it's going to be a long ugly year.

I would be very happy if all coaches of opposing teams made their game plans based solely on our bowl performance.

Brown might be the only one of the 4 who would be willing to stay as the #3 - or he might be the first one to bolt post spring. A bit of a possible crazy situation. Just don’t see all 4 staying, 1-2 will leave, the latter is a very real possibility, imho.

That’s what I’m getting at when Napier has loose discription of the qb room. He hasn’t said he’s done because he knows that Rashada and one more may be his only qb in a couple months. He may have the pwo as his fourth after adding one after the spring.

I would be shocked to see a "starter" declared based on spring ball

My recollection is Martin could hardly throw the ball more than 20 yards down the field. I seem to recall him throwing bounce passes. Comparatively Leak seemed like a stud with his arm, even though he himself didn’t have a cannon.

I don’t think you’re completely off base. Martin got injured early, if I recall correctly. But remember, urban wanted a running QB. Martin was a high school option QB. Won a Natty at Furman (I know, I know). And my post was in no way meant to negate what Leak did for the program. Just crazy thoughts I have…

Martin was a nifty athlete. I'd like to have seen him stay in some other offensive role. Seemed like a good WR prospect to me. Wasn't he also a punter?

It will if we can’t exploit it but that’s always the case.
