I am looking for a puppy to surprise my wife. She has been asking for years and I've found reasons to veto it:p but now we are settled in a nice house with a yard and she will be home during the summer plus we will not be going on any vacations so its a perfect time. I have no preferences on adult size or breed. I would prefer a shorter hair breed though. I've been looking through shelters online but not very many puppies younger than 8-9 months, I would prefer 3 months or so.

I live in Vero Beach and I am willing to go north to Orlando, south to Palm Beach, and west to Lakeland. If anyone knows of any newer puppies that are for adoption or purchase as long as its not too expensive. I would rather adopt, not into the buying and selling thing when there are many others that are in shelters or unexpected litters.

    Thanks for any responses!!!

I’m always skeptical of craigslist. Have you had success there before or know anyone who has with pets?

The Broward Humane Society usually is stocked with all types and ages of dogs/puppies. It’s a large facility. Try calling them (or they may even now have everything online)

My advice is to not totally rule out adult dogs. Rescues are also a good place to look.

Thing is, I’ve got a cat and we are trying to start a family so I would prefer a dog that I raised myself. I’m not against adopting adult dogs typically, just not the right time for me.

I just saw some free puppies for a small rehoming fee. I personally wouldn't use it for a purebred but if you are just looking for a whatever puppy it may be helpful to find someone that ended up with puppies by accident and just wants to get them to good home

Avoid Craigslist. There are many cases where people just want to get rid of puppies that have been denied proper vet care, and end up having to be put down or have huge vet bills paid by the poor souls who adopted them.

If you have a local dog park go there, you will be surprised how much information you will gather. Might even lead to you next dog.:)

And when you pick one, run fast with it! :ninja2: Some folks don't appreciate you taking their lost dogs while they are present. :emoji_imp::emoji_stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Okay, first mostly inside or outside dog?

I will tell you the best dog ever is the Cavalier King Charles spaniel. They have hair instead of fur, so they are hypo-allergenic. They hardly ever bark. Super smart dog. And this breed loves people more than any other breed of dog. I've had my female 2 years in July and she it the best inside dog every. As adults they only get to around 18 lbs. Fantastic w kids.

My best friend who is a UPS driver w 40 years or so says its the only breed that always is glad to see you. Plus, about the cutest puppy you will ever see. Everyone loves my dog.

paid $1200 for mine. Make sure you can take the pup to the vet right away to listen for heart murmurs.

juggernautz link, I just gravitated to the golden retriever breed because I was curious but a golden/lab mix should be a good combo.

Well my wife and I adopted a 3 month old pure bread mutt pup yesterday. They think she’s got some Retriever, Doctson, maybe Pitt, and maybe Shepherd in her. We named her Honey because she is the color of honey and she is such a sweet girl.

I can’t figure out how to post pics from my phone if someone wants to give me some tips lol
