Definitely less aggressive than what Biden gave us in video, yet no one cares about Biden threatening to hold back money. As much as Biden threatening to hold back aid doesn't sound right to save his kid, I don't really care. It's tax payer money we are giving away. Have no problem using our aid to benefit our country. Once this non issue whistleblower goes away, what will the socialists go after next? Vegas should get in on this.

Vindman is a 20 year vet, Purple Heart recipient. Taylor has served his country for 40 years under both R and D Presidents. Republicans had the chance to sit on the committee and ask questions. Schiff only stopped questions that could lead to the leak of the whistleblower's name.

Then there's the text message evidence. Plus the released, partial transcript where Trump asked for a favor.

You can ignore it all. Try to spin it ably b way you want, attack the messengers, or attack the process. But 2+2 still equals 4 in this world, and the evidence against Trump is overwhelming.

The only choice Senate Rs are going to have once this evidence is presented to them is either attempt to defend Trump's actions, or put Trump above country. Call me naive, but I still think there aren't enough low information voters that once all the facts are presented to the public that Trump will be able to survive. Some, yes, as even Nixon had support of 20% of the country. But then, there's always the hopelessly devoted.

Looking more and more like the President will be impeached. I wonder what his defense will be. So far we have heard the phone call was perfect, the whistleblower evidence was hearsay, Amb Taylor is a radical unelected deep stater, and Vindman was born in Ukraine so he cant be trusted. I don't think the defense will get much traction attacking the witnesses. So what is left to the President's lawyers? I really don't see much room for a credible defense. Of course we haven't heard any of the testimony - just opening statements so no case for the President has been presented. But really what is available to his lawyers?
    1. I didn't say quid pro quo so no quid pro quo
2.If the President does it that means its not illegal.
    3. We are really, really, deeply concerned with corruption in Ukraine. really.
    4. Just wait for the senate quislings to save him.

There are 25 republicans in the hearings asking whatever questions they want.

Please embarrass yourselves no further with this talking point.

The problem is that there is a certain segment of the population who get their "news" from Fox News commentators, Donald trump's tweets and various other pro-Trump sources who think what they are seeing and/or hearing is the truth even if it is patently false. In a world turned upside down those people believe the fake news that they are receiving is real and what is real and accurate is fake.

Trump lures GOP senators on impeachment with cold cash
Trump lures GOP senators on impeachment with cold cash
President Donald Trump is rewarding senators who have his back on impeachment — and sending a message to those who don't to get on board.

Trump is tapping his vast fundraising network for a handful of loyal senators facing tough reelection bids in 2020. Each of them has signed onto a Republican-backed resolution condemning the inquiry as “unprecedented and undemocratic.”

If you pledge to vote NO on impeachment, I will give you lots of money. Sounds almost like bribery.

It's all he knows. Sadly, it's probably all some of those Senators know too.

I think we all know he won't be impeached by the Senate. As the POTUS has already said he could shoot someone in midtown Manhattan and get away with it. He's right. It's a sad time for our so called democracy.

The House votes to impeach, the Senate votes to convict/remove from office, and no I don't think the Senate will sadly.

I'll be surprised if more than a handful cross party lines, let alone getting the full 66. Slightly more plausible there would be a movement among Republicans demanding his resignation, that would be the right thing. But it's difficult to see that as more than 1% likely with even mainstream conservative media embracing alt-right fake news. Perhaps the few true conservative that wish it was over, realize this guy will never go peacefully so there's no point asking.

Yeah I'm pretty sure they are willfully not participating. Which makes Gaetz's theatrics all that much more nauseating.

In the References Thread, I posted a Congressional Resource Service article and an essay from Claremont McKenna College as resource aids. They address the grounds for impeachment and the meaning of particular terms. There is a great deal of pertinent legislative history (going back to pre-Constitutional England, the Constitutional Convention and earlier impeachments, including of Judges) and this seems relevant.
