How about, what will be our record if Mullen selects our starting QB instead of a bunch of impatient internet posters?
Yes. Am aware.
That doesn't remotely negate anything in my earlier post. Now, if you have a time machine, and can bring Puppy Jake from 2017 to UF fall camp 2018, then your original post might make more sense. Let me know when you get the Flux Capacitor up and running and Jake is in pads.
Dang it. Another hurricane cancelled the Colorado State game!!!
Good perspective. Franks definitely has some really rough edges, but having a QB-friendly system and good coaching definitely goes a long way.
The Mac/Nuss system really was not one that any freshman QB should be playing in without an unbelievably dominant running game. Way too complicated and demanding. I can't imagine Trask or Jones would have looked any less lost as 2017 UF QB.
To me, the Matthews scenario sounds more like Trask than Franks.
Did Austin Appleby look so good vs Iowa because he was running Nuss' system perfectly where our other QBs did not or was that more a once in a lifetime good game in a Nuss offense? Because I really never understood what it was Nuss's system was trying to do.
IIRC, Appleby didn't look much better. Didn't he have half his yardage with a 90 yd screen to Thompson?
That scheme was definitely a convoluted mess.
Well, Gators will then be undefeated this coming season!
It’s great to be a Florida Gator!
I think Appleby did as well as could be expected under the coaching, but the Outback wasn't much of an argument for our offense.
For the record, Appleby was 14-25 for 222 yards and 2 picks and 2 TDs.
However, as you say, 1 screen pass thrown behind the LOS went 85 yards so that skewed it.
Taking that out he was 13/24 for 137, 2 picks, and 1 TD. Not horrendous, but not that great.
Our D was what shredded Iowa that day.
18-0.....and we go to the Super Bowl!!!
Skink, excellent job of pointing out what is clearly a minimally supported bias at best.
