POST GAME DISCUSSION Texie vs Gators

Discussion in 'RayGator's Swamp Gas' started by g8orbill, Oct 2, 2025.

  1. In order to win, we not only have to overcome our opponent, but our HC as well.

The rule is there to prevent teams from gaming the system. The opposing team gets to decide whether to accept the runoff for the lost helmet. When under a minute left, the clock starts on the snap when the runoff is declined.

There is indeed a way. It appears the defense can decline the runoff and the clock would start on the snap. Assuming that's the case the TO was fine and the ref/announcers made it confusing.

Great game for the LOS guys.

    Dallas is the real deal.

My hot takeaway is we're probably better off letting DJ get fully healthy. He's looking more comfortable, but that right foot is a liability for the O as his accuracy and mobility are affected. DJ is not a threat of qb run/scrambles until that foot heals.

Because Texas had no timeouts. Since his helmet came off he had to leave the field unless they can call a timeout, and since they didn’t have a timeout, he had to leave the field and the ten second run off.

Neither am I, the team just beat the #9 team in the country. I give credit where credit is due.

Exactly. I cannot recall ever having ambivalent feelings about winning.
This team has OUTSTANDING talent and could be a joy to watch.

No one here IS defending Billy. His post was a celebration of an accomplishment, not a defense.

You can keep saying #9, but anyone who watched the game knows that is not a top 25 team, let alone top 10.

So, just enjoy the win and stop getting in your feelings about others opinions.

Since the UF player’s helmet came off, then Texas decides whether to accept the runoff. Thinking about it now, the clock should have started on the ready to play since it wasn’t under a minute yet. Billy could have ran another 24 seconds off the clock, called the TO, and got Barber back in for the 3rd down play.

I understand that. I can’t remember if they did the 10 second runoff or not.

And? He’s going to coach all THAT talent to a losing record too. AND those guys will transfer out anyway as we continue to lose.Based on your logic, he should be given a lifetime contract. This could go on forever. Gotta rip off the band aid.

Maybe just the $20 million, It's possible a new coach wins over the recruiting class AND the current squad and we become a better team. You never know, but you can't just assume the worst.
