and unfortunately I fear the time has passed for him to hire an OC. He’s showed to be so damn stubborn on the issue that I don’t think he’d be capable of letting a new OC do his job without interfering.
Well, Meyer went from the Mountain West Conference. Not sure where Bob Stoops and Kirby Smart came from as a head coach.
Bottom line is we all agree that we have good players and they showed up on Saturday. The defense, Dallas and Baugh is the difference in that game and we won in spite of Napier. Passing yards were pretty even but we held them to 60ish yards rushing. That should win you most games. Do that the rest of the way and we should have a pretty good record - in spite of Napier getting in the way. He still needs to go.
Urban went from Bowling Green to Utah to Florida. Great path. Not sure where Bob Stoops came from?? Florida DC. Kirby was the Alabama DC. Both of those positions are far and above being the HC at ULL. Both of those guys were also top-shelf proven coordinators, something Billy never was.
lol ..I musta read that wrong Skink . Thx for the clarification. U know I was only a PE major so I struggle
Yeah. I like giving him $h!t back once in a while but sometimes he lays it on pretty thick about accepting mediocrity or less. Leather helmet Princeton days are over. The first 80 years or so does not define who Florida is now or what we are capable of. There aren't too many basketball programs I would trade for over the last 30 years if any. Football was the same after Pell, Spurrier and Meyer. Zook as the floor in that time (not counting our BS probation under Darnell) was pretty damn elite as well for 30 years. Florida fans knew what Mike white was after so many years. He would have been great for Florida prior to Lon Krueger and Billy unlocking our potential but the ceiling has been raised. Golden was unproven but conversely Mike White was. Sometimes you have to move on from the devil you know.
That is one thing that has really bothered me about CBN. I read once that he talked to the team about being willing to sacrifice for the good of the team. Like changing positions if that’s what’s needed. Why isn’t he willing to sacrifice for the good of the team and give up play calling. I know he likes it and he has said how much he enjoys it. But can he sacrifice that to make the team constant winners? I don’t think his play calling is as bad as a lot of people on GC think. He runs a lot of the same plays that other teams run in the same situations. But an OC with an innovative mind can make all the difference in the world. The upper-level winning teams seem to have no problem changing out personnel if that’s what’s needed. Why can’t he as CEO see that he needs to change out the offensive coordinator. By the way, contrary to what some people seem to think, I do not believe that he is merely hanging on to get his buyout without caring what happens. I really think he wants to win and is convinced that his playcalling will do it.
What are you talking about? I had no opinion on golden either way. I liked his energy and his articulation when he spoke. I was a quiet supporter of Mike white until the season he choked a 20 plus point lead away to duke and after several blowout losses to fsu but I was never disrespectful about him. I want every young talent to succeed as coach here so we dont have to keep finding replacements. People like to crap on Florida's place in sports but the biggest issue in football is that we never had an multi decade succesful coach like a Bowden, Osborne, paterno, Bryant, Saban etc. Pell got railroaded by the good ole boys. Spurrier was always going to test the NFL. Meyer flamed out. Donovan was the closest thing but tbats basketball.
You throw grenades at the board all the time lol. Its all good wing. I'll still have a drink with you if I ever see you in the neighborhood. Yellow golf cart still running?
