I understand that. The question is over the timing of the TO. If the clock was supposed to start on the ready to play, then Billy missed an opportunity to run an additional 24 seconds off the clock. If the clock was supposed to start on the snap, then Billy taking the TO when he did is irrelevant. I have seen two different answers for this specific situation with Texas declining the 10 second runoff. One says the clock should start on the snap when the clock is under 2 minutes. The other says the clock should start on the snap when the clock is under 1 minute. The example given in the NCAA rulebook for this situation has the clock under 1 minute. It’s section 3-4-4 if I remember right.
Funny, That's exactly what my college GF said to me one time and in a way she was right. Just call daddy and he put money in the bank. Rich girl dating a poor boy.
But … can we agree Sark isn’t a moron for not taking this option? Ya know, since he’s the “opponent” in this scenario?
Umm...UT gets the option of the 10 second run off, not BN. It was our player. Sark declined for obvious reasons. Perhaps what BN should have done is left his guys out there so everyone can see that the clock wasn't going to run until snap, then taken a TO before the delay of game. Now, the ref told him what they were going to do (clock runs at snap) so he took the TO up front.
I think you’re supposed to be glad the team won, but kind of sad that it might mean Napier isn’t fired later tonight. You can talk about how Napier is a terrible coach but refrain from anything that might indicate he coached a good game.
I’m not convinced Sark will ever win anything of significance at Texas. He’s still playing that west coast finesse football. The Horns got smashed on the both lines of scrimmage today. Ball game.
You’re correct. The announcers on TV made it sound like it was totally BN’s Call and then he screwed it up. They were obviously the ones confused.
I don’t have problem with your take , just the #9 thing. I see rival fans do it all the time. They won’t be number 9 tomorrow. If Texas loses all their games the rest of the season did UF actually beat the #9 team? No we would have just beaten a crappy Texas team.
I agree, but getting him the option he knew he was coaching for his coaching life. Had he lost his game and given the lead we had firing would’ve been eminent.
