Conclave to select the new Pope for the RCC has begun

Almost no chance today. There will start to be unofficial coalitions by tomorrow based on the voting today where you might have a shot.

 

I saw the betting odds last week but figured if you gambled on the next pope you probably get a direct flight to hell, no layovers.

 

One of the favorites is Pierbattista Pizzaballa, which is just an incredible, all time, name.

 

I had one of those at Joey’s Pizzeria, highly recommend.

 

He shouldn't be selected simply because he would choose a new name that is nowhere near as good as his given name.

He should choose..... Pizzaballa. Then we'd get to have Pope Pizzaballa. Who needs tradition when you can have a name like that?

I'm an agnostic who was raised Lutheran (ELCA, but my dad's side is WELS, who believe the pope is the literal antichrist). Here's to hoping for a pontiff who supports a planet where everyone of any faith (or none) can live in reciprocal respect and tolerance, or at least non-violence.
