Hope they figure it out soon. It's irritating as heck. It's on every page I click onto here now...

The point is, at the risk of starting a goofy debate, is that Macs don’t have pop ups, ever then I can remember.

But AdBlock is free and Macs are...well...not.:D

And don’t need AdBlock and while I love ya, I refuse to engage in a Mac/PC debate. I work in the creative world (and I mean along with LOTS of other people), I have no option.

I am just messin' with you man. (Because you said you did not want a debate:D).
I am a graphic designer and 80% in my field swear by Macs too.

I think we are mixing terms. most of the ads on GC are not really pop ups. They are embedded ads. Ad Block gets those as well.

except some of us have work laptops / phones that we can't add software too without tech support allowing us to. ads are intrusive / annoying and an insult to every person that visits this site.

Sadly, GC is becoming far less fun to use.

Is anything going to be done about these floating video adds. I tried an ad blocker but I have to disable it to get on other sites. It is very distracting.

We certainly care and we're still trying to find a balance that works because ad revenue pays for almost half our bills. Subscription revenue is only a portion of it.

We are the only independent site out there so we don't have huge corporate overlords funding our business.

At least this run is only for a couple months then it shouldn't be a pain anymore.

    Thanks for your patience.

Hi Growl. I understand it's a business and GC has to pay their bills. I just wanted to drop my 2cents in. There are websites I quit going to altogether (cbssports.com being one of them), because they started having the pop up videos/ads that couldn't be disabled. I'd much rather pay a few more extra dollars a month than have to deal with the videos, or leave the site all together.

Thanks, I think Ray will do what he says and they will go away after they can find a happy "medium".
