Who cares about this "old ass" story?

 

While not hilarious it was nearly amusing and had a hint of subtlety that Babylon Bee never has. Last line could have been funnier but I like the direction. Maybe they hired new staffing?

 

Accountability for the left: People are mad, the media reported it. I don't know why you're complaining.

Accountability for not the left: Apologize, beg for mercy, then never hold a public or high profile job again barring maybe Fox News.

Jon Gruden saying mean things while he wasn't even in the league is probably towards the bottom of the list of NFL issues. Yet it seems like it's at the top of the ESPN news cycle.

A double standard and lack of power in NFL circles took Gruden down. If you think that Gruden was the only one who said anything "cancel" worthy in those emails, you're fooling yourself. That's just all that got leaked. They wanted to throw Gruden to the wolves to take the spotlight off themselves.

 

My mother taught me as a kid, keep in mind this was the 80s; “Don’t write anything down that you wouldn’t want the world to see”.

 

To really fight bigotry and poor judgment, I suggest every ESPN employee turn over their cell phones and emails.

If they have nothing to hide, they should have nothing to worry about.

 

I don’t know about that. Let’s look at the practicalities here. Do you seriously think that referring to a black man’s “Michelin sized lips” is going to play well in any NFL locker room? At that point, how can players believe you are making decisions based on the team’s interests and picking the best player when you need to?

Those emails are just horrible and I don’t see how he could even do his job when they came out.

I mean, people can spin it based on a principle, but to me it seems the reality is that, once that bell was rung, he was no longer able to do his job.

 

Maybe not... because it can be construed as racist, but this wasn't in an NFL locker room was it? And there are plenty of other insensitive things that are probably said in NFL locker rooms that folks would find cancel worthy.

Also, I'm sure White folks get crapped on all the time in NFL and NBA locker rooms considering they're the minority.

EDIT: To answer your question in the first paragraph: Because people didn't have these questions until the emails were leaked. He had the Raiders merely one game out of first in a division with the Chiefs and Chargers. He's won a Super Bowl. Do I think he's overrated? Yes. Do I think he is more than qualified to be an NFL Head Coach? Absolutely.

 

As long as it's their work emails just like Gruden's then yes, let's read em.

 

The "old ass" Gruden story broke this week, the RBG story "broke" in 2016. How do you manage to be so bad at this?

 

He resigned after discussions with management (and I can imagine what that conversation was like). My point is that he pretty much had to because he is running a locker room with a large number of Black professional athletes making decisions that affect their livelihood, many of whom would no longer have faith in the objectivity of those decisions.

Look, the mysoginisitc comments and the homophobic comments are bad, and those play terribly in the press, but I have to admit that they have limited impact on the player base. But the racist comments, are job suicide…not because of pc, but because they just eliminate his ability to be successful as a head coach.

Why do White folks have to "be sensitive" when Black folks are in the minority in the corporate world, but when White folks are the minority in the athletic world, you can call a top 5 player in basketball a b**** a** White Boy, and you get a slap on the wrist?

How would that have gone if the roles were reversed?
