Quality depth in the trenches on both sides of the ball is critical to being a Top 20-type team. Coach Sumrall is building depth, we'll see how much quality there is. But he's at least addressing the needs of the program, IMO.

• SS did get past that and was wanting Kiffin.
• LSU firing both Kelly and Defensive Coordinator Woodward opened for Kiffin. Woodward staying at LSU would of been more than a snag for LSU to hire Kiffin.
• The hiring of the new LSU AD was another plus in the wooing of Kiffin.
• "As one source familiar with the conversation described, LSU's pitch was: "Coach, we love you, we love what you've done. Whatever it is you do, however it is you do it, we just want you to pick that up, bring it here, we'll fund it and let's go.". This was what got Kiffen to jump to LSU.

One guy told the fan base he needed at least 4 years to have a competitive team the other came in and stated he wanted to win right away. One guy stayed with a HS offense while the next guy went out and got a proven offensive coordinator.
