I think we have better than this in Jones.

How does Baugh factor into that? If he doesn't, then these rankings are garbageo.

Well, to be fair the. And Compare apples to apples you would have to give credit for every school that held on to their best players. Woods entered the portal so is included in some transfer rankings. Baugh never did, nor did Wilson or VB3 or Graham, etc. so giving UF credit for retaining them….at Texas you’d have to give them credit for holding on to Arch Manning, Ryan Wingo, Collin Simmons, and half a dozen more 5 stars. Same at Georgia, etc.

Does Texas get credit for retaining Arch Manning who never entered the portal? No. So UF doesn’t get credit for retaining Baugh. All over the country top programs re-up and pay to retain their top players and get no credit in the portal.

  6. I would say Napier went to a prestigious ROTC school, but I can see the Academy analogy as well.

Then the rankings are pretty pointless then, and certainly nothing to beat one's chest over. Now it truly is subjective opinion. If one's greatest victories aren't even counted in the formula, what good is the formula? Some talking point for a podcast?

I suspect we'll all have to revise the way we look at and grade the offseason.

There is a total team talent composite that comes out right before the season. That is a way to grade a full roster and apples to apples but…doesn’t really say who won or lost the off season. I suppose you could compare the increase or decrease in total team talent from 2025 to 2026 to we how many spots up and down teams went to see who did better. In the end, just win baby.

He's got everything he needs to be a great one. I thought he would, maybe red-shirt, since Jones has already done it. But if he's that good, then we are further ahead of the curve in the QB room. Griffin and Jones are going to be fun to see competing at QB.

But I think all eyes will be on Philo, and he has an advantage since he knows the offense already.

    Right here
Right on, spike. Transfer rankings are just about transfers. Personally, I’d rate retaining Dallas Wilson higher than retaining Baugh. And I’d rate OSU’s retention of Jeremiah Smith higher than Florida’s retention of Wilson. Including all of these would indeed result in a total talent rating, which is not what is intended by a transfer portal rating.

This is not to say Sumrall and co aren’t doing a great job. I think they are, and I think they don’t need a top RB because they already secured one. Still their top RB is not a transfer.

Which kind of proves my whole point. How much experience did Cardale Jones have?

If your backups are talented and well coached, you don't need "experience" to be successful.

Yep, and Clay Millen the year before. And neither one made a difference

I trust the coaches and I think Philo will do great. I do get some of y’all’s concerns about having a capable backup. I’ll give you 3 serious names:

    Eli Holstein
    Jaxon Potter
    Jake Merklinger

Don’t know what happened to Millen, but Bailey should’ve gotten some PT last year.

Yeah, these rankings are pretty useless. If they are not judging the net gains and losses of talent, then it’s pointless.

Yes, i referenced him in and earlier post. Came from a gator family and was content to come here and finish career without much chance to play. He didn't move the needed, nor is anyone else likely available this year. Warner is better than most guys like that
