    ^ I agree with this 100%

^ Nah, you still need to heavily recruit high schoolers because they will continue to be the backbone of your roster (look at OSU and UGA for example), and it's important to develop those relationships whether they commit or not, because that could be a big advantage down the road. That being said, we can't get in bidding wars for high schoolers that will come here, sit the bench, and portal out. I'm assuming that's the point you were trying to make

^ For Indiana? Sure, but what Cignetti has done there is unprecedented, and they now have Mark Cuban backing them. Most other schools who rely solely on the portal will end up like FSU, winning 13 games one year, then 3 the next. Too much roster turnover is a huge gamble

^ For the most part, yeah, I think you are correct.

We would have had to skip on philo if we wanted a top guy.

Correct. Faulkner clearly made this call....People either trust him or they dont. Clearly Sumrall and Caldwell are good with it.
Maybe they bring in a Harrison Bailey type like last year....a cheap guy purely for depth.

The problem is if you put too much money in your 35-80th players you are going to suck. Those players are just not relevant anymore. You need to go cheap with them and plow it into the starters and key backups

We still have Mr Yale as a 3rd stringer. If we get to our 3rd string QB, we're in a lot of trouble.

You have to fill out the roster. It’s fine if they are HS guys. Actually I don’t care who they are as long as they are paid peanuts. The money needs to go to starters and key backups only.

The market will soon see this. Even 4 star HS guys won’t have much value because they aren’t ready to play.

As you said, Faulkner made the call. Why get into a bidding war with schools that have proven they will sell their grandma's house to afford paying a Leavitt or Sorsby when you have a guy you are familiar with and believe in? We aren't going to outbid Miami, LSU or Texas tech in a year where all of them are looking at replacing their QB. Maybe but doubtful.

Also, joe Burrow had some hype when he went to LSU via OSU but many were saying he was average at best and got passed by Fields. He was a solid pickup for LSU before he turned into a great one. You never know how things shake out.

I agree if we were going to be legitimate contenders for a national championship but I don’t think we will be next year. Shame that it’s Baugh’s last year. Hopefully we can keep DW another year and he stays healthy. And the QBs are decent and re-sign.

Makes no sense to gives a one and done this year with some much in transition. Its better to see what we have and see if it makes more sense the next year. Its a waste to give a qb 6mil if you arent actually planning on giving the olayoffs a legit shot. Better to build with what weve got for now.

BIG TIME! He may be our most productive next year.

As for the QB chit chat and hand wringing.... Philo coming with his OC and a couple of receivers and linemen he knows puts his whole situation on another level and will likely prove to be as effective as any QB we could have hoped for or paid for.

Jones is someone the new coaches wanted. He's a standout. If they want Griffin to redshirt they'll pick up some lower tier guy for safety.

Huge! Not only his electric playmaking ability, but having a senior in the receiver room is only going to make the youngsters better this year and the future.

Napier went to the Academy, Sumrall was prior enlisted. As of now before the season starts at least.
