When I was a 11-year old kid, there was a pitcher named Johnny Russell that terrified me. First off he was big and ugly, could throw really hard and had no clue of his pitch's final destination. Also, he had eyeglasses that looked like the bottoms of coke bottles and from his balance point forward he would close his eyes and shake his head vigorously back and forth as if saying no and grunt loudly when he released. It was an effective delivery. By the time the ball crossed the plate or arrived at the backstop I had usually fled the batter's box.

I know .. I mean the beer. It was Thirsty Thursday at Jackie Robinson stadium in Daytona for the opener.
Jonathan India hit 3 rd and played third for our Tortugas.
Byrne and Kosavarsay also on the roster.
Somehow I was in a suite with all the beer I could drink. Unfortunately it was Bud Lite. Had about 2 and a half . What a pitiful excuse for a beer. I guarantee u guys I will wake up
    With a big ass headache

    Dang wing—

I’m no Bud Light fan either—but a headache on 2 1/2 beers? Don’t know if I would’ve said that out loud—;)

All he needed were contact lenses with sparkled like the Predator’s eyes. Do they have lenses with fluorescence?

Me thinks you “misremember”. In 2016 I was at the Buchholz Gainesville High city rivalry game with Santa Fe coaches who had a gun. He threw a no hitter and was pumping 94-95 in the 5th inning as a Junior. It was ridiculous.

    27—

Both good observation and good question—I would say—

    A) That’s a winner’s practice, start to finish—

    B) When a SP has been struggling or underperforming and he seems to otherwise be healthy a lot of times a HC will determine if he starts based on his focus and performance of his scheduled “tune-up” pen before his scheduled start—If Sully likes what he sees, he makes the call—if he doesn’t like what he sees he makes a change—

This is just my opinion from my own past with the game—

Those Tortugas marketing guys need some reevaluation....$5 to park, $11 ticket for an exhibition game, and insanely overpriced concessions and beer. Not conducive to draw a crowd in that market

I saw that they had over 4000 on opening night. The few I've been to in Tampa have been pretty much family and friends.

They do a big promo for opening night, but other games I have been to there had more staff than fans....they have an army of retired guys making sure you sit in the right empty seat.....sounds like the next career move for wingtee:p

Got me thinking. Dys has been good for 1-2 innings and throws heat at 95-96, until mechanics fail him. He’s experienced. That kinda sounds like a...?
