Here is the Perfect Game write up today on the UF Fall

    Florida

The Gators are the best “buy low” in college baseball right now. And to be clear, their version of “low” was an NCAA Regional appearance with an uber-inexperienced team. Kevin O’Sullivan and staff have added the nation’s best freshman class to that now more experienced group.

Josh Rivera looks like the favorite to be the everyday shortstop and Nathan Hickey could be an impact lefthanded bat from day one. Classmate Hunter Barco is a two-way phenom who has future first rounder written all over him and righthander Brandon Sproat has shown massive velocity this fall.

Two major themes around the returner group have been several position changes and the emergence of Jud Fabian as a potential star player. Sparkplug Jacob Young will move to the outfield, Cory Acton will move across the diamond to second base and Brady Smith will add both infield corner spots to his defensive duties. Fabian is a five-tool athlete in an understated frame and he may be the best defensive center fielder in the country.

How has Hickey been doing behind the plate? Good defensive catcher skills?

Others on here have said very good with potential for this year. I haven't seen him behind the plate much but he has been batting 4th quite often so the coaches think highly of him.

It is, to me, an absolute travesty that Jud Fabian was not named to any of the All-Defensive teams last year.

Maybe the voters are trying to leave room for Deric and try to explain how a freshmen could be the SEC SS of the year in another 18 months.

PG just released their top of the class for the 21 recruiting class. I know none of this means anything until they get to campus and live up to the billing but, anytime someone is keeping stats I want to be at #1!

    Full 2021-22 Recruiting Class
Head Coach: Kevin O'Sullivan | Recruiting Coordinator: Craig Bell

This Gators class has the chance to be one that will rival any that O’Sullivan and his staff have put together in recent memory thanks to the emphasis they put on cleaning up in Florida while going out of state for a few impact pieces. It’s also worth noting this group possesses more than 10 percent of the top 100 ranked players in 2021 as it currently stands. Righthander Andrew Painter, the top recruit of the class at this point, is already 6-foot-6 and up to 94 mph though he’s far from reaching his full potential. Outfielder Jay Allen, shortstop Deric Fabian (brother of current Gator outfielder Jud) and two-way Jac Caglianone are all positional prospects ranked within the top 75 and possess the ever-intriguing combo of present skill and athleticism as well as ample future projection. Righthander Chase Petty (New Jersey) and lefthander Philip Abner (North Carolina) are the two lone non-Floridians in the class, though it’s clear why the Gators went out of state as both show electric arsenals and big arm strength, topping out at 94 mph each with a swing-and-miss breaking ball. Add in the likes of Brandon Neely and Karl Hartman, a pair of righthanders with low-90s fastballs who saw their stock rise significantly this fall, and it’s easy to see why this class is already being regarded as a special one.

We will be sweating out the draft process big time with that group.

Do you know what percentage of the Top 100 actually make it to campus? Out of the top 20-30, I assume 1-2 only (Barco being one of them last year). But when you start getting to 50+, not as sure. College players make up probably 60-70% of the draft in the top 10 rounds? Almost all top 10 round guys sign. Meaning the top 350 or so players sign. That leaves 150 or so HS guys to sign. Scares me a bit that the class is so heavy in the Top 100...

Am I even close on those estimates?

Here's the 2020 commitments if anyone else was looking for it. I haven'e seen any overall class posting from UF other than individual signings on Twitter.
