I wouldn't park in the "Veteran" space at Lowes. But I will admit, I do park in the "Colonel" space at the base Commissary and Exchange. To quote Col Jessup, "I believe I've earned it."

I might be wrong, but I think he was thinking that combat vets aren't eligible for healthcare services. This would be mistaken. They might not get tri-care as retired vets & dependents are eligible for, but they are eligible for enhanced services at VA hospitals as long as they sign up within the eligibility period.

    I wouldn’t park there but then again, I wouldn’t shop at Lowe’s.

No, just that I own a bunch of HD stock.
Hd has crushed lowe’s for quite some time but they have hired a lot of HD people in the last year. They may be poised for a run.

This is probably local to my little town in southwestern Illinois, but customer service at Lowe's has gotten bad over the years, while our Home Depot continues to have great customer service.

Yes. And for those folks who think retirees get "free health care for life" (like the recruiters told us way back when)...that's not the case. We pay for health insurance (called "Tricare"), but it is super inexpensive, and if we're seen on base or if we get meds on base, we don't pay a co-pay. So that's good. But not free. :)

Yeah, getting healthcare from the VA. Let me know how that works out.

Here is a hint, it doesn’t. Yes you are entitled to it but it is not what you would want.

HD gives military discounts. You do need ID though.

Great idea. We should also have designated parking for:

    Teachers
    Firemen
    Police
    Nurses
    Pastors
    Peace Corp
    Lawyers
    DMV Employees
    Felons

Oops. I got carried away. One of those was a joke. :)

    WOW!

and you get USAA benefits as well. Seriously, it sucks that I'm severely hearing impaired. I would've joined the jag core immediately after law school

The whole USAA thing is pretty blown out of proportion. It’s just another big bank these days that likes to convince people it’s special. It’s competitive sometimes, sometimes not.
