Pakistan India Heating Up

India and Pakistan have been at odds over Kashmir for decades, sometimes escalating into military conflict. Neither is willing to commit its military to an all-out war over the small region. It's more a matter of national pride that each country does not let the other "get away with" any violence or retribution over violence. They recover from whatever injury was inflicted upon them once they have a taste of revenge, and then the pot goes back to simmering. Neither side has any interest in taking over the land or population of the other country. Both countries have too many people and too much to live for to allow little skirmishes to escalate into open and unrestricted warfare, especially with each side knowing that the last act of the other side will be to use nuclear weapons.

Trump didn't accomplish anything that a half dozen other presidents can't (and didn't) claim to have accomplished over the years.

 

The violence over Kashmir was the largest jet fighter battle in the last several decades, with 110 fighters participating. Pakistan was especially interested in shooting down a French Rafale fighter flown by India with a Chinese-made J-10 fighter. And they did shoot down one. The cause of the shootdown seems to be more of India's ignorance of the range of the Chinese missiles than any other special capability of the J-10's. India's pilots thought they were out of range at 95 miles. Regardless, the French manufacturer's stock took a hit and Indonesia is considering cancelling its order of Rafales and ordering J-10's.
