I’m grilling cheeseburgers tonight. I’ll be using the old fashioned Weber kettle charcoal grill method.:)

We’ve got BBQ baked beans and coleslaw for our sides.

Ice cold longnecks and chilled wine are our refreshments for the day.

I make some decent baked beans but Sonny's baked beans are really good so I almost never make them.

For slaw I prefer a vinegar based Carolina slaw.

We made our own beans back in Marianna but the butcher that I’ve made friends with up here runs his smoker practically every day he’s open. He obviously makes bbq beans as well as his own sauce. I’m sold on them both…

Some leftovers. Also chicken noodle soup using chicken broth made from something else I cooked and defrosted. Poaching some chicken breasts for the meat.

Alan along with 5 other area business owners smoked butts all night Thursday night for the Boys and Girls Club benefit so we have a butt’s worth of pulled pork.

Tonight we’re having pulled pork sandwiches with bbq baked beans and coleslaw.

The longnecks are ice cold and the wine is chilled.

To be young again staying up all night drinking beer.

    I can't do that anymore.

Tonight we are having white chicken chili to accommodate our colder wet weather. Topped with Sargento Tex-Mex cheese, sliced jalapeños, and sour cream as desired.

Tostitos multi grain scoops will be on the side.

A tumbler of Knob Creek small batch 100* will match up well.

Tonight we’ll be using some of our pulled pork to complete making a pot of black beans and rice. There will be fried cornbread on the side.

Cold, rainy, and windy up here this week. Perfect weather for another tumbler of Knob Creek small batch 100*. Ms. Jan will prefer a Moscow Mule.

My wife is bringing home Italian beef sandwiches from somewhere. If they are half as good as what you can get in Chicago I will be a very happy diner.

Today was a special day of duplicate bridge where we were supposed to bring finger food. I made my signature tapenade on baguette rounds: Kalamata olives, oil packed sundried tomatoes, flat leaf parsley, garlic, balsamic vinegar, fresh thyme, tomato paste and my secret ingredient pistachios.

Not many taken but from those that did I got very positive feedback. I think that most folks didn't recognize what it was. That's OK. More for us.

Chicago style Italian beef is no longer on the menu. Drat. Cheesesteak instead.

Our youngest is turning 30 on Saturday and he is treating us and a number of friends to the Panthers hockey game with great seats.

He likes things Swedish (and even learned the language and has travelled there on his own) so as a special treat for him I am making Swedish meatballs tonight to be served over mashed potatoes as is traditional.

    LOL.

I do use fish sauce as the much milder Asian flavor in some dishes.

We’re going with round two of the white chicken chili tonight.

Damp, raw, and wet weather is good for a tumbler of Elijah Craig small batch this evening. Ms. Jan chooses her chilled wine tonight.

    Chili dogs and then baseball.

Both teams are really good and worthy.
