Going to a friends' house for take out Thai. I am making the smashed cuke Thai style salad. Taking a Spanish white wine that we get from a place in New Jersey that is very good at its price point (about $16) and we get free shipping. Also taking a 2021 L'Adventure Cote a Cote from Paso Robles. Spectacular wine with a price to match. I think we paid much less than current market price when we bought it directly from the winery. We were early members of their wine club.

Ms. Jan and I are joining all of our families over at Kayla and John Luke’s this afternoon to celebrate our 52nd Anniversary.
It’s been a blessing every single day.

We are having grilled boneless ribeyes,
baked potatoes, and a freshly made Romaine salad topped with vine ripe tomatoes.

12 yr old 101proof Evan Williams in honor of my Daddy tonight.

Life is good in Gator Nation!

Added in edit—My Daddy’s favorite short drink was Evan Williams 10 yr old.
Alan scored a bottle of their limited 12 yr old 101* for tonight’s occasion. We also toasted his namesake JK Weaver tonight as this was the first time we’ve all been together since he was born.

Ribeyes are my favorite cut of beef but I like bone-in more than boneless. Boneless I like NY strip steak as my second favorite cut of beef.

Filet mignon is over rated. Filet mignon lacks enough fat on its own. Wrap it in bacon and you have something that works.

Tonight we’re having fried chicken. Sometimes you just need to enjoy what you love….BBQ baked beans and potato salad to go with.

Ice cold longnecks and chilled wine works well today.

Pozole rojo. I haven't made this for a long time. Takes about 6 hours and makes a mess of your kitchen.

    But worth the effort.

Tonight I am firing up the KJ to grill ground chuck burgers. They always taste better grilled over oak lump charcoal.

Tonight we’re having hamburger taco casserole. It is topped with tortilla chips and Sargento shredded Tex-Mex cheese.

Ice cold longnecks and chilled wine will work well this afternoon/evening.

Old school Italian-American tonight. A simple tomato sauce (San Marzano tomatoes, butter and onion pieces cooked in the sauce and then removed) and then classic meatballs. With spaghetti, of course. Spaghetti and meatballs is Italian-American and not really Italian. Still tastes great.

We are going to be planning soft meals for a few days, I had to have a tooth pulled this morning.

    Tonight we’re having homemade chicken’n’rice.

I will most likely sip on a tumbler of Elijah Craig this evening and Ms. Jan will stick with her chilled wine.

    Ouch on the tooth.

Elijah Craig will help with the pain.

I've had three teeth pulled. Two were wisdom teeth that cracked and one was one of my lower front teeth that was always crowded. For YEARS my dentists said to me to get one pulled and then braces. Eventually one cracked as they predicted and then I needed the root extracted. But then it wasn't braces but Invisalign. Annoying but not like having a wire mouth.

If not right thread apologize mods please move, other circumstances involved went back to the high school on Friday (I didn't play baseball) (we don't have a great record at Tampa Jesuit all 3 FSU starting pitchers this year went there anything going on?) Lance Mccullers is the only guy who was even committed here but he obviously signed outta hs.

Grilling brats with German potato salad as a side.

Not exactly "heart healthy" food but my heart is in pretty good shape.

Have you ever made the "Joy of Cooking" tamale pie? A genius dish from the 1950's. Super good. We make it on occasion and many times by request. I think you can get the recipe online.

I think you would really like it.
