Well we have made our trip to Jasper with multiple things on our agenda. Tonight we’re going to have Ms. Jan’s beef tips and vegetable soup again as we brought it up with us.

Wednesday morning Alan and I will head up to southern Illinois for their first weekend of their deer gun season. When we get back we’ll just stay in Jasper as we are celebrating Thanksgiving with our family there.

The young lady in Alan’s life will be receiving her Specialist Degree in Special Education and we will be here for that.

The beers are ice cold, the Kentucky Straight Bourbon is top shelf, and the girl’s chilled wine is of their choice.

Life is good in Gator Nation!

I text it to you. Hopefully that will work.

You will appreciate the derivation but no it is not 2*pi. It is referring to the distance beyond the center of the onion to achieve equal slices.

When I want to dice onions nearly uniformly I cut onions in half, slice them, and then take a few rings out at a time to cut.

That is roughly what I do but that is far less fun than the derivation. The conversion of coordinate systems is spoken of as novel but for any spherical object it is a no brainer. Then comes the Jacobian.

As a HW fan, I know you are familiar with the soundtrack for the classic "The Last Picture Show". They really did a fine job with not only the music selection but where and how the music was used throughout the film. One of my fav. movies.

Picked up a 8.25 lb. Jennie-O brand Turkey Breast this afternoon and have it thawing in the mini-fridge in my garage. It will just be Mom and I again this year so this should suffice with plenty leftover for sandwiches.

I *may* end up getting another one - debating a whole one - to make turkey soup with. Will play it by ear.

This year I am especially thankful to have Mom still with us.

    Great movie.

Peter Bogdanovich was a film critic and was told if it is so easy to make a good movie why don't you direct a movie. And he did.

    He showed them.

My wife put in an order for a fresh turkey at Fresh Market. I am going to smoke it.

    Good backstory, Lurk!

This is a movie that gets better each time you re-watch it. Sam the Lion - what a performance by Ben Johnson, who makes every film better with his participation.

Night off from cooking as we will have really good Thai take-out.

And tomorrow is most likely another night off as I am going to the hoops game at 6.

Best chili I ever made was made with ground turkey. Of course you can make that any time of year.

I nearly always make my chili with ground turkey now.

If I could get my hands on some of that @74nole venison I would give that a whirl. I like the gaminess of venison in chili. It gives real depth to the flavor.

Best lentil soup I ever had was made with venison sausage! The link style cut into slices. Good buddy's wife made it. She was one hell of a cook! They used to live next door and she always brought over "extras" for me. Then they moved a block away and everything stopped. Then they moved even further! Oh well - it was great while it lasted!

Alan and I are in Illinois getting ready to kick off deer season in the morning. Supposed to be 26* in the morning-cell phone service is spotty at best.

    Hot Dogs tonight!

Just mustard and Mrs. Campbell's Chow Chow.

    This stuff is awesome!

Southerners love tradition and Mrs. Campbell’s Chow Chow is one of our best! Chow Chow is a vegetable relish made with the crispest cabbage, onions, peppers and a secret blend of spices. This recipe has been handed down from generation to generation and is one of Golding Farms® best kept secrets!
