Last month: “we want to secede from those socialists”

Today: “hey Joe, thanks for sending us some of those federal emergency dollars?”

Yeah, Abbott and Paxton have been yapping for a few weeks now, and suddenly, they're begging the federal government for help. Then again, it's not any different from what blue states did during the Trump Presidency.

Is this a new precedent where a state that voted against a sitting President is able to receive emergency federal funding?

Yeah ... what's the equivalent here to telling California to rake their forrests? "Hey Texas, shovel your snow!"

Which blue states had legislatures that introduced a secession measure to get away from Trump, or had governors or lieutenant governors yap about it, vs yapping about the person in office? I can’t think of any.

Not hypocrisy. As long as they are part of the union they should get there share.

Hypocrisy and what support is due are two separate issues. For instance, a pro-lifer is allowed to pursue an abortion but it would be hypocritical in most if not all cases.

Are we gonna send money to blue states every time it snows? Why does Texas think it’s special? Geez. What a bunch of freeloaders.

Your example would be hypocrisy because the pro-lifer believes abortion is immoral, but it’s the wrong analogy. A better example is Brexit. Britain wants to leave the EU, but as long as they are still a member, they have the right to enjoy the benefits.

I think “secede” is the point.

And Republican Texan leaders don’t decry “socialist” policies as immoral while asking for the same benefit?

    I never said they shouldn't.

The hypocrisy is their wanting to leave the Union because they disagree with, among other things, it's "socialist" nature at the same time they are asking for some of that "socialist" money.

I can see your points. It's kind of like rich liberals complaining that the rich aren't taxed enough, but then they take deductions on their own tax returns. I still think it's consistent to want to break away from a system and yet still work within it while we are there.

Wind turbines freezing is a VERY small part of this problem. Battery tech cannot advance fast enough
