We also have an unprecedented times with transfer rules.
What's really the difference? A player with some experience to gauge them by at this level or a total unknown at this level?
Because we only had one open spot. Now that more are leaving, we’ll hit the portal to fill.
(Speaking in conjunction with the Nuttin' but Net community) . . . "All this - is bizarre!"
And to all these transfers . . .
Not really, although his departure is probably not terribly impactful - he was active on defense. Could have been a glue/energy guy off the bench, but I guess not.
This is really starting to look like a dumpster fire. Does anyone think White is going to bring in 3 or 4 quality players via transfer or recruiting? The 2021 class is mostly locked up. So we are mostly relying on transfers. To what end? Even his transfers in end up transferring out lol.
I agree. White probably sees next year as make or break. So he needs to upgrade the roster as much as possible. With the amount of solid guys in the portal, this strategy makes sense. Time will tell if it works out or not, but at least White is going all in for next year.
Sounds like we may end up with at least 5 or 6 spots. (and maybe pushing 7 or 8).
The problem is we barely have 5 starter level players, even if we pencil in Reeves as being fully ready. Castleton was a legit SEC starter, at least upper half of the league. Appleby, I guess is legit starter but probably not upper half of SEC PG’s. Duruji is similar, very athletic but maybe not quite a top level SEC starter.
How many transfers can you realistically pull in? This isn’t even “rebuilding”, since 2021 recruiting is just about locked up for high school recruits and there is no long term “building” going on. It’s now going to be almost desperation to fill spots. White has brought in quality transfers before, but how much is too much?
I’ve been down on White for awhile, but wanted to give him more time. But now I’m leaning in the “ready to move on” camp. At this stage, what is the point?
I think you can bring in a decent amount of quality transfers. Especially this year. It's like the wild west this year with a blanket waiver. The con is every program is susceptible to players transferring.
I guess. Hopefully White can bring in a top tier starting guard. Because if not, next season is going nowhere before it begins. If it’s a Wild West, that means the competition will be fierce.
I just don’t like it in general for college basketball. Relying on transfers isn’t much better than relying on 1 and done. White has had good luck in the past, but now we are totally reliant on it just to be competitive, and that is something different. IMO.
I would still love to see some anonymous info on whether White is running these guys off or whether the players are fed up with whatever is going on.
Can't someone get Glover, or Locke or Osifo to talk off the record?
Jesus, that's 3 in a week
If we're being truly honest with ourselves, are any of these 3 must-haves? This board has skewered at least 2 of them time and again, yet now lament that they're gone
White started early playing the transfer market and IMO that gives him a leg up this off-season with an established pipeline.
Not sure I understand this. Shocked he’s transferring.
I like him. Tough and physical kid. We need that.
Arkansas brought in ten new players this year (recruits and transfers) so it can be done.
Nope. What we have here is a failure to recruit. Glover, Osifo and probably some others should not have been recruited to UF. I have to be kind now.
But I liked both of them because of their effort and I pulled for them.
Osifo is a tough kid and quick, hard to f8nd.
White will replace him with a 6'0" point guard.
