might this be notre dame ?
By all common sense and measurements we should be ranked ahead of them but who knows. It will be a travesty
Great. Then they can take into account ours while we were 28-28 with L$U mid third and played with multiple injuries all year. It’s not our fault our BUQB is a stud.
They need to compare facts instead of kissing $abans oranges.
We will finish ahead of Bama. Our 2 losses are much better than there's. We beat Auburn. Bama name wont matter this year. They gave up Almost 50 pts to Auburn
From:Bowl Projections, College Football Playoff Predictions: After Week 14
This prediction also has Penn State falling out of a NY6, so not sure how accurate.
Shoot I hope we play UVA. That would guarantee 11 wins as they are garbage.
This. Unless UVA beats Clemson in the ACC CG, they will have 4 losses. Sorry, but a 4 loss team does not deserve a NY6 Orange Bowl.
The OB committee needs to reevaluate their automatic ACC tie-in.
Instead of ACC vs Big 10 or SEC,
should be ACC/ND vs Big 10 or SEC.
Yea, I agree
There should only be three bowl tie-ins:
SEC in Orange
and Pac 12 in Rose
Big 10 in Cotton.
Everything else should be based on rank.
Yeah, definitely not the sexiest game, but I'd be very happy to finish the year with an Orange Bowl victory. Don't care who it is over.
Personally, i would love the Cotton Bowl, as it is in my backyard!
Just please no Citrus Bowl (camping world stadium). The Miami game was one of the worst college football game experiences, well, no the worst, that I can remember...
For Orange Bowl we need this scenario to play out:
1) LSU beats UGA, sending UGA to the Sugar. UF needs to be ranked ahead of Alabama (likely IMO) and either Penn State or Wisconsin after next week*. The first of those B1G teams goes to the Rose Bowl, and we're ahead of the other for the OB.
*This happens one of two ways. 1) We jump Penn State this week, given their relative stuggle against Rutgers (7-3 lead at halftime). 2) Wisconsin loses badly to the OSU and drops behind us again. Personally neither seems terribly likely to me, Wisconsin has more good wins than UF (Minn, Michigan, Iowa) and probably won't get knocked too badly for losing to #1 again. And I don't think beating FSU will impress the committee enough to jump us ahead of PSU. But either is possible.
Other possibility is UGA beating LSU, both make playoff, and Bama stays ahead of UF and goes to Sugar. Then we still need to be ahead of the top B1G team after the Rose Bowl. But I just don't see this happening.
My understanding is the highest ranked non P5 school gets the bid to a NY6 bowl. ND is an independent and not part of the p5 or non p5 structure. They can go to any bowl that invites them.
We are in an era where pedigree and opinion mean more than earning championships on the field.
Notre Dame's record and ranking isn't quite impressive anough for the invitation.
SEC should be Sugar. Always has been, The SEC Mecca has always been the Sugar. It is our version of the Big 10 going to the Rose.
I don't see a three loss Wisconsin ranked ahead of us, even if two of those losses were to OSU.
My fear is that we will see the CFP rankings come out and we will be behind both gump AND Auburn. They have churned the Gators between 10-12, no matter who wins or loses elsewhere, ever since we lost to the puppies. It is like they have predetermined for us NOT to get to NY6.
A lot of other fan sites basically say that the bowls manipulate the rankings to get the matchups they prefer and it looks like we are NOT well liked by the NY6 bowl committees in NOLA, Miami and Dallas.
And it is NOT true that gumpers don't travel well to "meaningless" bowls. Even w/ 2 losses and no tua, they are still right now a HOT commodity.
