I watched the game and was pretty sure we won, but after reading through this thread I had to go back and double check. Go Gators. We began the season in the top ten and were the one that many picked as the preseason top ten member most likely not end the season outside the top 10. It was a fun game and a fun season.

Boy, isn't that the case. Then it gets scary national championship good when you can cherry pick the studs in recruiting. A gaggle of underrated 4 stars and eventually we'll need a bit of 5 star talent to compliment the ranks, one would assume...

    Happy new Year!

    Go Gators.

Couldn't understand the lack of effort or emotion on defense.
Left a bad taste in my mouth. It reminded me of the Miami game.
UVA QB is very athletic but just about every important reception (at least 2 of the TD's) were 50/50 balls.
Didn't look like we had much fight.
The long pass that set up the last TD was pathetic!
4 defenders around the receiver and the ball was thrown up for grabs and we don't even go after it.
Like others i'm starting to believe this is a Todd Grantham issue.
Both games we lost this year we played zone coverage and got torched.
You can't tell me that UVA has better athletes then we do.
So, someone please explain why we were playing 10 yards off the ball?
We don't have the personnel to get close and play aggressive?
    I don't get it.
A win is a win as a few have mentioned but this was a sub-par performance and a let down for the last game of the season.

Was a great game. It was about as close as virginia could make it. They were scrappy.

Just watched the highlight reel on the game. I'll tell ya, Virginia put on a clinic offensively. Their QB and receiver(s) were outstanding. That QB's escapability was pretty terrific. Trask looked really good too, except for that one lethargic toss, actually two lethargic tosses (one throwback across the grain) into the endzone.

Trask is the luckiest QB, he hits defenders in the numbers quite regularly-the good news, they always (almost always) drop it!

But, after careful review, some of the highlight reel tosses and catches Virginia had were quite noteworthy. Virginia came to win.

    But...look at the scoreboard.:eek::p:D

Another thing, Trask has time quite often to scan the field. Can't do that without your guys protecting you. Bravo to the O-line.

    It's great to-be a Florida Gator...;)

    Go Gators.:)

The defense was playing to contain the VA QB run game, which it did very effectively. But, that did seem to open up his passing game, which was really on point that night. Didn't help that CJ made himself unavailable, requiring everyone else to get juggled around to patch the hole. But, we did get through it. To me, the eye-test thing is a big part of what gets you into a particular bowl, but, W's or L's are what count once you get there.

Agree. Defense played exactly as schemed, contain the QB. It just so happens he completed 5 or 6 passes that normally you would hope to complete 1 and hope the rest fall incomplete.
If the latter happens, it looks like a blowout on the scoreboard.

Great Win ! 11-2 , meets all of my expectations. Doesn’t mean we will not have some let downs going forward. I expect them and like where we are and prospects of the future.
    Go Gators.

    Trust the Mullen.

I don't think the Gators prepared as if this was an SEC or rivalry game opponent. Maybe except for Perine, who seemed like he was possessed

I don't think they expected UVA to play as hard like they did.

Not right now. There's not a one out there that isn't staying put or becoming a HBC themselves.

CJ not playing was a huge factor here.

Name him. Also name one team who would fire a DC with the defensive stats we finished with this year? There are fair criticisms but no team would do that. And we did improve from last year to this year and it’s only his 2nd year.

I could swear that we went 11-2 and won the Orange Bowl. And here we have people wanting to get rid of our DC? Have we already become entitled again despite 2013-2017?

True. And yet, we laugh at the Stoops rumors.
