Loved seeing the offense running through the middle. Essex had a great match offensively, no doubt. But, man, I was super impressed by Rothe. That was a really good win.
At this level, what does the use of Kinesiology tape signify? Dealing with injury or purely preventive? Tonight McKissock's right shoulder was taped up, which I've never seen before. Likewise, Kennedy Martin's stomach/abdomen was taped up.
If correct on Kira, I'm thinking her playing career is over. Lauren Harden needs to step up. We need the availability of another 6'3" player on the outside. Madi doesn't surprise me as her surgery was so close to the season, no time to completely heal. I was a bit surprised when the announcer said Alexis was mid-October or maybe before. I thought she was ready but being held out until the start of SEC play which is next week. It was great to have Gabby back playing at such a high level right off of her injury. I hope we don't forget to play Auguste and Thomas moving forward as they were playing well. Auguste's athleticism is off the charts. Considering Kennedy Martin had a high ankle sprain, getting her back in 3 1/2 weeks is extraordinary, usually takes 6 weeks for high ankle sprains. Good win tonight over a worthy opponent. I thought FSU looked better than last season when they took us to 5 sets then too. UF will take a bit of time to develop the chemistry with the deeper roster. The sooner Alexis is cleared the better.
Those two, and Rothe as well, are all very talented. Quite the trio; or some might even call it a triple. Nice win last night! Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
I think I read somewhere that Kennedy Martin's ankle sprain was lower down and not a high sprain, which allowed her to bounce back quicker.
I had heard that before too, but the announcers said it was a high ankle sprain. Either way, Kennedy is back so she can get herself back into playing shape. The announcers said she had been allowed to be in 1/2 of one practice the day before the FSU match. Considering that, Kennedy did remarkably well.
See Post #2207 above. @scrappygator gets more inside info. of volleyball than anybody on this board, I think.
Not just volleyball. I think he may impersonate a student and hangs out at the new Heavener training facility to get the all the nuggets that he gathers.
Watching Hutson on the sidelines is alarming. She does not raise her right arm at all, period. She really doesn't even use it. No high fives on that side, plays bump with left arm only, doesn't raise that arm ever. That's not a good sign unfortunately this far out. That being said, I was rather pleased the coaches actually made changes in this match. Using a different DS was a good move imo. Also, putting her in when someone was getting targeted and having difficulty was a nice change from the usual tactic of just moving that person and either making fewer people pass more court or use someone you don't typically use and thus placing your attackers in different starting points. I was hoping that the burning of the redshirt by playing last week meant Mary was serious in getting that young talent on the court if the upper classmen didn't perform. That was the biggest active roster I think I have seen in several years here. My question is will we dare make that one other adjustment we need from time to time? That would be using a taller outside when AC or Martin seem to be overwhelmed with the opposing block. Does not happen all the time but we have sets when the match up just isn't good or we have to keep going out of system and that predictable attack is a lot for an undersized outside hitter to handle against a good block. Every now and then I think using the bigger player for a rotation or two would be beneficial. I'm assuming that would be Hardin at this point but is there perhaps a chance of someone else doing a small bit of relief as a change up at outside if you know you have 3 healthy middles should you need one, like Auguste, for a rotation or two. Wouldn't need any passing out of that position if the other outside is playing well and we continue the DS trend we have been doing.
