(SB) Ongoing UF Softball Commentary

Championship game canceled. Both are co-champs. Not clear to me why since radar appears to have a large clear area approaching Athens very soon.

 

Amazing. Gasso doesn’t want to get laughed out of the stadium like Texas was so cries weather and gets saved?

 

As much as I dislike OU in the post game interview after coming back against Arkansas their kids said something profound. They don’t look for extended abs, their plan is to attack in the first three pitches because everyone knows those are the best pitches you’ll see. I wish we would adopt this revolutionary concept!

 

ACC playing in Boston and has had just brutally cold and wet weather. Guess what. They are playing their game right now.

 

It probably depends on the quality of the pitcher, but I wish someone with contacts could mention this to several of our players who have tended to wait for several pitches before swinging.

 

Back in the day Tennessee finished the season against the newly SEC Mizzou team. Regular season championship was going to be decided by the results of that series. Tennessee having played three less games than our Gators had a better % and didn’t want to play the series, they wanted the title gifted to them. I imagine CTW was vocal in his displeasure. The Weaklys didn’t get their way, Mizzou won the series and our Gators got the regular season title. Guess there’s a new sheriff in town now, sad. On a side note no way in my mind is gasso deserving of SEC COTY. Should have gone to gamecocks head coach. They were predicted to finish last in the SEC and look at what she’s done with that team! (For clarification there was weather in Mizzou that weekend but nothing that couldn’t be scheduled around.)

 

Obviously if the pitcher can’t hit the side of a barn don’t swing but otherwise those early pitches are going to be the best ones!

 

Our players and coaches probably saw the same interview i did lol.

 

Looking at the radar, I have to admit they probably would not have gotten this game in. There is a short break right now but there is a huge mass of strong storms headed straight for Athens and will hit pretty soon.

 

Siri the voice of our future AI overlords says there are no thunderstorms in Athens Georgia only light rain. Patty probably has ptsd from the bama beats and bama beat down she received in the rain all those years ago lol. If I recall correctly she tried to get out of playing that game also.

 

Well, Siri can say whatever she wants but there is a mass of crap headed straight for Athens. And they are unlikely to weaken. Not like me in the mountains. Strong storms almost always weaken a lot when they hit the mountains before they get to me. BTW....we had a strong earthquake here this morning. Epicenter was in south central Tennessee but it was strong through North Carolina and I'm only 8 miles from the NC border. Never been in one before like that. House shook violently for 10-20 seconds, dishes rattled in the cupboard, dogs lost their minds and so did I.

 

Should’ve moved the game up in that case. I mean it’s the south east so we know weather tends to exist. We move games around all the time based on weather to get all three games in a series played. This is ONE game, championship game no less. Patty simply didn’t want to get annihilated so she squirmed out of it.

 

Oh, my tears are NOT shedding. Clemson takes the championship from FSU with a two run bomb in the 7th.

 

It has been raining all day. I'm only two hours north of Athens. Same weather.

 

As long as there’s no lightening and it’s not a monsoon play the game.

 

I guess I’ll just catch up on Andor and do some laundry. At least we all know patty’s kryponite now. It’s rain.

 

There was a joke there I decided against. It would have been hilariously inappropriate so I decided to just let it go into the nethers.

 

Idk how Clemson even got past VT? Doesn’t matter, happy they beat the criminoles!

 

For all the fans who spent money/time to travel to Athens there needs to be a better resolution in the future. NASCAR has the "Next Clear Day" rule. Even if the NCAA gave a one-day window and played on Sunday, that would be better for the fans, not to mention the players.

 

One of the wildest games I've ever seen. It was brutally cold...45 degrees or less and a constant fairly hard rain. Clemson was down by 6 in the 6th and they scored 7 by getting 5 walks and a HBP and a hit or two. That was after Tech scored 4 in the top of the inning. The one inning took more than an hour. Tech blew the game but it was almost impossible to pitch in those conditions.
