I just don't think there's room for her this year to be honest. Next year I belive she'll have every opportunity to start, but I don't know maybe thst injury held back her development? Wouldn't be the first time. If Walton belive in her id love to plug her in rather than going for a transfer. She's was very highly touted from what I remeber. And we will need a speedster next year. If Walton thinks we need to pick up an outfielder instead then so be it. I've personally criticized OU for recruiting transfers over their own high school recruits so I'd be hypocritical to say id rsther get a transfer than hoping our own players workout. . . But Walton knows best and he is very picky about transfers i belive. There's also Kylie Shaw. Will Layla play 1st? I wasn't sure which position she plays.
https://247sports.com/college/oklah...d-from-team-for-personal-situation-249687669/ Interesting stuff. Sooners posters seem to think she'll be back. They have a 247 board but I don't have vip to view what they're saying.
We actually have two signees coming in next year. Kalie Matsuno and Leah stevens (who was a late signee) so that will bring the roster to 17. I don't think any of the 2026 signees come in early tbh, unless like you said we have a dire need in a position and walton was not able to get anyone from the portal to address that need. In terms with Cassidy, I agree with someone who said that there was just not anywhere to put her in this year. I fully expect her to compete for one of the outfield spots next season.
I think Coach Walton is comfortable with 20 to 21 players on the team. With 25 scholarships available next year that gives us plenty of room to go to the portal and fill in some of the spots that we need. I think we need one quality pitcher, another catcher so that leaves at least one infielder and maybe an outfielder to bring in with currently 17 scholarship players on a team now.
Jennifer Falby was a hoot! I enjoyed her prospective of the Florida Softball family, players, coaches, parents, support staff, and the fans (in the grove).
I came here early this morning for this very reason. We recruited the heck out of Bordi. She has camped with us. She is a good two way player. I'm pretty sure we would take her if she is interested in moving on from Oklahoma.
That isn't what I meant about Cassidy. I didn't expect her to get much, if any, work in the outfield. To the best of my recollection though, she hasn't pinch run or gotten an occasional pinch hit in a long time and I don't consider that normal for the situation.
Layla told me at the banquet that she plays either 1st or 3rd and was surprised when CTW had her in left field. Said she would play wherever she was put but she was confident it would be at one of the corners.
Taylor Schwarz was the best defensive first basemen I ever saw would absolutely love to see Taylor Shoemaker take it for the next three years and make it her own.
Heavener for LSU one hits Miss State in the sec tournament. I'd love to see Red and have a bounce back game like that.
Agreed. Either she is a great actress or someone's suggestion that there might be a locker room problem is way off base. I'm sure that UF's rep as a family-friendly, supportive, inviting program is great for recruiting.
Yea all the OU people are saying she'll be back soooo idk. I don't see if going over well her leaving halfway through though unless it's a major situation.
Wonder if she finished the semester or term? Hope she left in good academic standing. If not, elginility could be a problem. I think it is amazing how little “drama” we have heard about with the Gator Ladies. Good teammates, good students, good citizens and great players.
