Ongoing UF Softball Commentary

OK. My frustration, based on years of uncontroverted evidence, might be driving me nuts. I'll take back the bit about her deleting the emails, although I'm not convinced about that. I support Tim from here to the mountains but not on this issue. We get nothing except canned articles from Brooks after or before the game simply reciting general statistics from or about the game and some canned stuff about the opposing team. Which may or may not actually get posted in the Gainesville Sun and nowhere else. Information that comes from multiple programs at UF, other than canned and useless PR releases, and other schools never, ever, happens with UF softball. Now we don't even have someone in that position and there is nothing, based on her post, that she is even assuming that position, October or not. If she was hired as the Communications Director, it seems reasonable to conclude she would have said that, not some nebulous "communications contact". The lack of contact with the fans that care about the program has gone on for years. This is nothing new. And it forms the basis for my frustration even if I might stray overboard at times. Admittedly, this business about Erin isn't earthshaking but it is the full confirmation of my point. We should be screaming to the world that a person with her resume decided to join the program. Numerous other programs have posted full page announcements of GAs joining their program with full page welcomes and full graphics for people with far less than the credentials that Erin brings. I will bet that the vast majority of UF softball fans, who have not seen our revelations on this page, have no clue she has joined the program. There is no explanation for something like this. None. Starting three months ago when we knew she was coming on board, there has been no reason not to announce it and even up to now well into Fall season. She is not a recruit. There is no restriction on commenting about her. We are left to decipher that she changed her Instagram profile to include "Gator SB GA" or we wouldn't even be allowed to talk about it. I am at a loss how to express the frustration otherwise....we do not try to involve our fans with the team other than the bare minimum. For years. I'm done with this. I have expressed my frustration more than once. No need to keep repeating it but the frustration doesn't change and isn't unwarranted.

 

I’ve done some semi-verification on previously posted unofficial Fall Ball schedule. FSU officially published their Fall Ball schedule 10 days ago. Their schedule coincides with the October 27th 2:00 game at KSP that was listed in the unofficial fall ball schedule posted last week on this Forum. Thanks to notexgator for posting it.

 

I would contend pretty much all of our so called non revenue or low revenue sports fuction this way. Does anyone know what's going on with the multitude of injuries in volleyball? What about recruiting for gymnastics? Apart from what players post themselves most of our yeams seam to function this way. I for one would love to gear that Stucky on the volleyball has been practicing well but just not quite ready yet or that Kennedy has a low vs high ankle sprain and not a broken foot. Recruiting and injuries always seem mysterious in our womrns sports.

I’ve not been around anywhere close to the multiple decades so many of you have been but…in my short time I’ve never been more excited about Gator softball than I am now. 30 minutes after the 2013 season ended I knew with all my heart we were 2014 national champions. I didn’t know we’d double up, should have tripled up but whatever. I knew 2014 was a championship year, this feeling is same but different. I’m not good enough of a wordsmith to properly share my thoughts and feelings. I’m so fnin excited and I just can’t hide it. February yet?
