Marissa Young has to be a prime candidate to jump to a premiere opening. She built the Duke program from scratch to a very solid program. The family situation with her husband so severely ill might be something that would keep her at Duke but the stadium sucks, there doesn't seem to be much fan support and she doesn't seem to get much support from the administration. I don't know if Auburn will go after her but they should. I'm not sure Auburn qualifies as a premier program but it is the SEC and she could create waves there given enough time.
Meanwhile, Rachel Lawson has a big job ahead of her. I don't think her job is in trouble but her program is in trouble. They have had two legit stars....Kowalik who graduated last year and Coffel who is done this year. Plus their best pitcher, such as she is, is also done this year. I don't know what recruiting class she has coming in but she really has to amp up the program and soon.
Ole Miss beat Kentucky. Somebody here owes me a beer that I will never collect on as I don't bet. Happy to see the rebs advance. It would be a good thing to have all 13 SEC teams in the NCAA tourney.
The problem with softball bracketology is D1 Softball and Softball America keep their bracketology behind pay walls that I'm not willing to pay for. We'll have the brackets for free next Sunday. With just a little effort I did find this free softball bracketology. The full projected bracket: Bracketology | College Sports Madness The top 8 seeds agree with my predictions in post #6005, just a little different order with UF at #8 in both. The top 16 seeds: 1. Texas 2. Oklahoma 3. Tennessee 4. Oklahoma State 5. Duke 6. Stanford 7. UCLA 8. Florida 9. LSU 10. Georgia 11. Missouri 12. Texas A&M 13. Arkansas 14. Florida State 15. Louisiana (Like this one, no Washington) 16. *Alabama *Virginia Tech is the likely higher seed, but the regional is projected for Alabama. Why? The Alabama stadium holds 3,940 fans while the good little stadium at Virginia Tech holds 1,024.
Saw that bracket....like that UCF goes to Tally and we get FAU. While I think they are comparable teams, UCF has faced a very difficult schedule and that might pay off in the posteseason. They have faced the best of the best in the regular season. Also interesting Ole Miss is in their bracket
Interesting compilation of SEC coaches' salaries. None of these figures include incentives, bonus money, perks such as cars, etc. Baldwin's comparatively low salary at UGA surprises me. SEC softball coaches compensation 2024 Tim Walton, Florida: $550,855₁ Trisha Ford, Texas A&M: $540,000₂ Patrick Murphy, Alabama: $530,000₃ Karen Weekly, Tennessee: $500,000₄ Beth Torina, LSU: $480,000₅ Courtney Deifel, Arkansas: $475,000₆ Rachel Lawson, Kentucky: $355,000₇ Mickey Dean, Auburn: $300,000₈ Larissa Anderson, Missouri: $275, 625₉ Jamie Traschel, Ole Miss: $255,000₁₀ Tony Baldwin, Georgia: $237,000₁₁ Beverley Smith, South Carolina: $223,290 Samantha Ricketts, Mississippi State: $186,000
I was looking at the LSU roster since there is a chance we might get them in a super. They have 26 players including 6 pitchers on their squad. That is a lot of people. How do you keep that many players happy. They are also loosing 6 starters and the #3 pitcher next year. PS..ET I could UPS your victory beer.
Probably have some walkons and little used backups....often pinch runner types w speed UF kind of has an unusual roster in that pretty much everybody is a legit talent.....and fortunate that our regulars are often great baserunners for the most part
Ocala refers to most of the posters correctly as "old men." Since we are old and have nothing to do, we can watch Bama & LSU at 11:00 am.. Should be interesting. They did not play in regular season. I dislike Murphy but have to root for his team for ranking reasons. When the game is over it will be about time for my nap.
I’m pulling for Auburn today, I don’t want to see UGA again. I’m cheering for Mississippi State because I think they can beat Texas A&M, I don’t think South Carolina can. Mississippi State would be a good matchup for the Gators in the semifinal round.
This LSU/Bama game is insane. I think we can safely say today's schedule is blown sky high. Porsche is missing his nap time...or the rest of the game.
