Up to date D1 Softball has Florida at #18 in the RPI, SOS improved to #28, but DSR ranking at #7. Many are saying that the DSR ranking is a newer and better computer ranking that RPI. Missouri is #7 in RPI, #10 in DSR, with #17 SOS. The Gators are right there with the big boys. They just need to keep racking up wins.
Probably not going to take many runs to win this weekend. SC has only scored 25 runs in 15 SEC games. Gators have scored 87 runs in 15 games.
Gators have 11 games left in regular season all against ranked teams. How many do they have to win to get a top 8 seed? I think if they win the series against SC, GA, A&M and split with FSU they are a lock. If they loose a series they need a sweep of their own and beat FSU twice.
Agree. I totally believe in their ability to see OKC. I also think they are a well blended team. They appear to be well bonded and really like each other. Drama free. It's an underestimated value in a team.
Hope we score plenty off Vawter jsut for the sake of why she flipped. We did at least see her last year. Their freshmen pitcher Sage Marjedcto is also very good. Think she was jsut behind our 2 in the rankings.
I agree but finishing second is easier said than done. We are tied with A&M for second. They only have 6 SEC games left. Three against Miss who they probably will sweep and three against us. We have to sweep SC and take two from GA to be tied with A&M when they come to Gainesville. Tall order. A&M is currently knocking the cover off the ball.
Texas A&M took the weekend series at Alabama by winning the last 2 games 17-6 and 9-4. I watched last night and it didn't even seem that close.
FYI....D1Softball just came out with their weekly rankings. Gators #9, Tenn #5, LSU #8, MO #10, A&M #11, ARK #13, GA #14. Miss St, Bama & UK also in top 25.
Of course, Alabama made it easy for them by imploding with four errors. My favorite was after a Texas bunt single was safe and the play was over, the 1B player started walking towards the mound with her back to the bag, screaming at 3B for not getting back as she had no one to throw it to during the play. Meanwhile, the runner saw that 1B was involved with complaining about her teammate and scampered to second. It was that sort of night for Bama.
It all goes back to our weak non-conference schedule, where it shows us at #115. Alabama's was #42, FSU's #10, UCLA #14, Auburn #25.
still do not know why 30 in conference games like the men, especially with ou and texas coming in, then no real need to argue about sos
Very true. How can a true regular season conference champion be determined when a team only plays 8 teams when there are 15 teams in the conference? The title will basically be decided by the SEC officials that set up the schedules.
My issue with it is the fact we have the same record yet series wins against Bama & LSU and a single game win against UCLA.
I get what rpi is I'm jsut saying I will always belive it is a flawed formula. Any ranking that punishes a team for winning has to be flawed. Fl having the head to heads over those teams jsut above them and the same record should trump schedule. Take away the head to head wins then fine whatever.
If the shoe was on the other foot, we’d want to be rewarded for our strength of schedule. It will work itself out. Just keep winning. Don’t win, can’t complain.
