FWIW the gainesville sun today had a article, not written by anyone local i believe ranking uf 11 out of 14 sec teams, reason being it is all good and well to run rule inferior teams.why does uf not play in the clearwater tournament?
UF plays a quality schedule, and will face a LOT of those Clearwater teams over the season. The California trip is better for recruiting and a nice trip for the team. Also a chance for Cali and West coast players to play in front of friends and family
For a change, I’m glad we’re starting with this type of early schedule. Gives all this youth a chance to get adjusted. We’ll get our due rapidly if we start earning it in the SEC. It starts with a stable and efficient pitching staff. I think that box is checked. Just have to work on the hitting now. It’s early, but wouldn’t be surprised to see some repositioning of the lineup if the cold batting continues.
Without question this is the weirdest/worst stadium we come to. We were here a few years ago, also. The first row is about 20 feet straight up in the air. All seats are obstructed view, mostly by the spectators in the rows in front. Does it seem weird on TV? Season tickets are $65, this game alone is $25. UNF has to be thankful that UF comes here.
not to nitpick, but only 2 players on the team this year are from california, seems the recruiting base has moved much more eastward.while the trip is nice, not so much for families of players to watch them.
Until our elite offense shows me something against good competition, I won't argue with 11th. I think we will get better, but seeing is believing.
I started a game thread, if anyone cares to post - especially those watching the game. I'm listening.
We had to Cali players transfer out, plus Otis and Jocelyn are west coasters, plus we still recruit out there. But it's a nice trip for the team regardless, plus good experience going on the road to the west coast in a tourney type format
Apk said Korbe is a west coaster. I think Jocey is from Arizona (without checking) but she played for the Batbusters. Pollard and Gigante were west coast..Mercado and Batbusters respectively. Taylor Shumaker coming in next year plays for the Batbusters and will turn heads and move into the starting lineup immediately. We're fine. Tim plays California every year for two reasons...one is to give the Cali kids a chance to play at home and the other is to keep the Gators front and center in the minds of upcoming kids.
I was really happy for Katie, Baylee and Brooke tonight. Katie and Brooke had their first Home Runs of the year and Baylee had her second. Katie’s is on a tear in her last three games, 2-2, 2-3 and 2-4.
Yes, Erickson is fromk Arizona. I think Korbe Otis is from Colorado. But I like the Gators taking an annual trip to the West Coast.
These next five games are against some weak competition. It is not whether the Gators are going to win but whether the Gators are going to be scored on. Seven shutouts in a row would be fun. Wonder if that has been done before. Probably has but I'll bet not by all freshman pitchers.
