Ongoing UF Softball Commentary

It's a tragic loss for these girls.

Out of the box podcast has sec softball media days... Florida posted today. And if anybody was wondering... he really went hard after those top portal pitchers.

 

When can you upgrade your season tickets? I know the date is coming up. Does anyone know exactly when?

Thought it very interesting when TW said if he could get Amanda Lorenz on staff all he would have to do is sit in the dugout and be the CEO.

 

Each ticket holder has a specific date and time window. You should have received an email. My window is Thursday at 11AM, for example.

I listened to it all. Nothing really deep we didn't know. He is deeply disappointed in not getting a veteran pitcher from the portal. He didn't really divulge why it didn't happen. He didn't name names but he did say "some" didn't want to deal with having a stud flock of freshmen pitchers coming in. He went on and on and on about Skylar's boyfriend. I guess he really likes him and thinks he helps give her some stability and whatever. He, of course, raves about Skylar. Says he never, ever, has had a player that works as hard as she does. Says Baylee is the team captain and is extremely important in being involved in the entire team effort. Said Skylar will ask where do we eat? Kendra wants to know what we are wearing? Baylee comes to him wanting to know how everybody can get better. Said her going down with her injury again really deflated the team and it was a lasting effect. Didn't really talk too much about the freshmen. In general, yes, but not really much regarding individuals. Says third will come down to Brooke, Alyssia and Ariel. Apparently, the SEC is strongly considering going to a neutral site for the SEC Tournament. Didn't disclose any timetable for that. He wants full scholarships approved by the NCAA....hates this percentage stuff....wants everyone equal. Railed somewhat about everyone not being equal in the money realm and without naming the obvious implied some places are buying players and others can't really do that. Says he has known the former UNC coach for a long time and really respects her and had an hour long conversation with her before hiring Dobbins who she strongly recommended. Says he approached Francesca back in March telling her the fourth coach was coming and did she want the job. Apparently she immediately said "yes" and then had to backtrack and discuss it first with her husband. Said if he could somehow also get Amanda he would just turn the team over to Francesca and Amanda. It was an hour long so I'm probably forgetting something but that's pretty much it.

 

Well worth listening to Coach Walton who is interviewed in the first segment of the podcast.

CTW mentioned while talking about the scholarships “ as I ride off in tbe sunset” he retiring soon?
Ava not mentioned once either. Keegan mentioned several times. Could be nothing. Or could be clear who number one is. Mentioned Keegan being most decorated softball player of all time. Ava has some big accomplishments also.
