Ongoing UF Softball Commentary

    There are numerous threads leading up to softball season and a thread for each game as it's played. How about a thread where we can have an ongoing discussion as the season unfolds? I'll start with this:
    On the offensive side, after 10 games, the team batting average is .356 with a .454 on base percentage, with 68 RBI, 40 walks, 11 HBP and only 26 K's. We have 7 girls hitting over .300 - Falby at .548, Adams at .433, Lindsey at .367, Wallace at .357, Goelz at .333, Walsh & Wilkie at .300. And we're 21 for 24 in stolen bases.

    On the pitching side, the team ERA is 0.55, with opponents only hitting .127, 23 walks, 59 K's.

    Loving what we have seen so far. And coach Walton has an impressive class coming in next year. Poised for another nice run to OKC!

    Tuesday & Wednesday we have a home & Home with UNF, both games starting at 6 pm. UNF is 8-1, having beaten Big 10 Michigan State twice on Sunday. Their only loss was 6-5 in 9 innings to N.C. State.

    They have excellent pitching. Need to jump on them early. Mediocre hitting and defense.

    The big problem is getting past Ala with their all american pitcher.

    Huge number of triples this year. Lindsay had two tonight alone.

    MODERATORS: Maybe add the SB prefix to this thread? Some users are set up to only see the SB threads.

    UF softball goes to 11-0 with a 7-1 win over 8-2 UNF. Lexie Delbrey threw a complete game 4 hitter with 7 k's and only 2 walks. The Gators pounded out 13 hits and were aided by 5 UNF errors. Florida had 4 more stolen bases, giving them 25 in 11 games. Cheyenne Lindsay had 3 hits, while Falby, Adams, Wallace & Echols had 2 each. Wallace & Goelz had an RBI each, Wilkie had 2 and the others were unearned. Good win against a good team. Rematch tomorrow.

    Heading to KSP to watch the Gators chomp the Ospreys, which begs the question, who came up with that mascot? Ospreys? Their two bits cheer…I sprey, you sprey, we Osprey!!

    Natalie Lugo tossed a no-hitter as the Gators beat the Ospreys 8-0 in 5 innings. Reagan Walsh has a big game with 2 doubles and 5 RBI and Hannah Adams went 2-3. UF now 12-0 and looking good!

    I know it's not the correct forum, but if anyone wants to sell their tickets for the March 27th game on that Sunday, I am interested.

    So unless I'm wrong, there's no TV for the UCF KNIGHTS CLASSIC, except for the last game and then only if you have paid for ESPN+

    And if anyone wants to share their ESPN+ password, I promise I'll only use it this once -- lol.

    That's what I see, too, and I just don't understand why so many early UF softball games aren't on some kind of TV. Next weekend UF hosts the "Bubly" Invitational and plays 5 games in 3 days, with none of them showing up as being televised. Crazy.

    God I hope so, I just snagged two tickets to OKC this week when they went on sale, if we’re in, we’re there, if we’re not, I’ll sell them to some OK or Bama fan for twice what I paid.

    They won’t stream it online like UNF did on Tuesday? I stream it on my iPad and cast it to my TV.

    UF softball run rules Depaul 11-3 in 5 innings. Marissa Mesiemore started in the circle for the Gators, but only threw 2.1 innings, giving up 3 runs on 3 hits and a walk, with an error hurting the cause. Lexie Delbrey pitched the last 2.2 innings and picked up her 5th win on the year. The Gators pounded out 15 hits and had 4 more stolen bases, with 2 hits each from Kendra Falby, Skylar Wallace, Cheyenne Lindsay, Reagan Walsh and Katie Kistler. Next game is at 6:30 pm on Saturday vs. Oakland.
