Normally, when a player participates in Senior Day they ain't comin' back, whether they can or not.

Generally true....but probably happens more than many think. Draft position, or lack thereof can change a mind pretty quick

I can't think of a single instance in UF baseball or softball where a player participated in Senior Day, received their framed jersey in front of the fans and teammates and then came back the next year. When they decide to do that, they've made up their mind to move on. I'll be glad to have an example given where that has happened, but don't think you'll find it. Besides, Calilao, Fabian, Riopelle and Armstrong are all COVID juniors and Pogue is a redshirt sophomore. They simply wouldn't go through with the ceremony, hug Sully and be honored on the field for their contributions to the Gator program and then come back.

Truth is his own Dad (“11”) gave him his nickname and it stuck.

Pogue is the surprise. Wish Armstrong would have come back.

Riopelle & Pogue surprised me, for sure. I expected Calilao and Armstrong to either enter the portal. Caglionone will be the first baseman next year. Maybe Pogue decided after his TJ surgery to just show he can still pitch and then take his chances in the draft while he still can. Maybe Riopelle just wanted the 1 year to prove he can play at the SEC level, become a finalist for the catcher of the year award and then, also, take his chances in the draft. I'm sure we'll hear more details fairly soon.

Exactly my thoughts Ocala. I figured its a given that Calilao and Armstrong would not be back because of Caglianone. I expected Riopelle to be back since I've heard rumors of Guscette looking around. I look at Pogue right now and wonder how high he would go in the draft. I'm no expert or even a novice but another year for Pogue could be huge for his draft ability. Sure Fabian is gone. Milchin and McMullen are done. So if only 5-7 move on Sully still has quite a few decisions to make as who he keeps. I'm not sure how strict the NCAA will be yet on baseball and the numbers going forward but I got to think Sully doesn't want to get too top heavy for when the numbers matter again.

I haven't been to enough uf baseball senior days to speak to it....but I have seen it many times at other places. Has happened several times at UF football, I remember Tate Casey joking about his second go round.
In the past it was more common because guys had to wait and see if the ncaa might grant a redshirt or medical rs

    shane—

I feel like with his lack of playing time this year and surely Cag will be expected to be our starting 1st baseman next year—no real surprise to see KA move on….

The Cape Cod League is awesome! Followed extremely well by professional scouts as well as college coaches.

Once the players settle into their routines they realize that they’ve got very good fans that really believe in supporting their hometown team.

You can go to The Cape Cod League website and get each team’s on-line radio broadcast. If you follow someone in particular, it’s a great place for a vacation too!

I never have understood why number 11 was not credited for a CWS title in 2008 when FSU beat the leghumpers for their one and only CWS title.

You are correct. I had forgotten about that one. Still think Riopelle & Pogue are gone.

I agree on Riopelle for sure. Not many decent defensive catchers with his speed and bat.

Pogue is an interesting case. Clearly he is not 100% recovered from TJ surgery (pitch count is limited to about 80 pitches) but getting there so maybe an easy summer and another college season might do him a world of good. That is a lot less stress on his elbow than going pro right away.

Man, 2017 feels like a decade ago, for all kinds of reasons.
