I don't have a problem with that as long as you let the retirement benefit increase to reflect additional payments. The government will still come out way ahead.
Isn't that just like Maga. Take away the food, and medical assistance from the needy but lie and pretend to care about people's feelings.
To be fair, anyone younger than you has not enjoyed the benefit of as much deficit spending as you have. So perhaps we should pro-rate this. But since you said that you're in your 70s, you've been pretty much enjoying the welfare of deficit spending for your entire adult life, and almost for your whole life ... which has thus far been longer than most of the people here posting. So you've got some paying back to do, sir. Why wait - I'm sure your strong feelings of personal responsibility compel you to right a big check almost ..... immediately. Right?
The IRS/Treasury did debit my checking account to the tune of over $7,000 back on April 15. Knowing that a fair portion of it went to Americans in need did make me feel better although I have to concede that I still wasn't really happy.
Gotta give the senate some love. They are working everyday including this weekend to get the OBBB to Trump by Independence Day. Daddy says they can't recess until the job is done. The same will apply when it goes back over to the house. Trump wants this done now, not at the end of July.
I am good with this if it has a realistic buy in. You can’t instantly raise the payout without taking into account that high earners have been paying a smaller percentage of social security than the poor and middle class.
Good because you think votes will be changed or because you think it will matter if this gets delayed by a day or so?
